In the offseason, we’re taking care of the little things - like making sure the swim caps for evaluations are clean and dry before we put them away! We’re also making plans for the 2027 summer swim season, and hope to be able to share key dates soon.

We are thrilled that the Town of Okotoks has taken this step toward the expansion and revitalization of our Rec Centre aquatics facility. Members of our Board participated in the public consultation that took place last year, and we are excited to participate further as detailed planning and design emerge. Let’s go! 🌊🌊🌊

🏊‍♂️ Big news for the future of the Okotoks Recreation Centre! After reviewing three recreation centre investment options, Council has chosen a path forward that advances detailed design work for a phased recreation expansion centred on new leisure water amenities.

❓ What does that mean? Right now, the project moves into the detailed design phase that will focus on planning for the following:
- New leisure pool, including play area and lazy river
- Renewal of existing leisure pool (Swindells)
- Tot spray pool with play features
- Waterslides
- Hot tub
- Cold plunge pool
- Steam room and Sauna
- New change rooms
- Supporting infrastructure sized to accommodate future recreation amenities and expansion opportunities

📝 This work will refine costs, phasing, construction planning and funding readiness so Council has the information needed to make future decisions. It's important to note that construction has not been approved at this time, and funding and project timelines will be considered by Council at a later date.

💬 This direction reflects years of planning and community feedback, including input from more than 1,000 residents and recreation users who identified leisure water as the community's top recreation priority.

We counted 9️⃣ Stingrays in the pool with Prairie Dolphins Waterpolo last night! If you have a Stingray who wants to stay in the pool this winter - or if you have a kid who likes to swim - you can sign up and do a two-week trial with the Dolphins before committing to the water polo season. We’re excited to explore this new sport, and look forward to seeing these Stingrays racing stronger than ever next spring!
