The Okanagan Heritage and Museum Society was registered with BC Societies on June 29th, 1980. The Basset House was purchased by the Women's Institute and moved onto the site. Then the Museum was set up with an office for keeping records of the History of Okanagan Falls. In 2008, in an agreement with the McLean Family, the Society built a Trophy Room for local World Champion Rodeo Cowboy,

Lean. The Thriftee Shop is an ongoing fund raiser for the Society. There is a pleasant group of workers who volunteer 2 or 3 hours a week. Tourists from many countries, as well as across Canada and the US, stop when they are in the Okanagan Valley. One lady remarked when she had finished her Museum tour that it was "Like a walk through the past." . There is always the task of recording and storing artefacts and documents that come into the Museum. Digital equipment is installed for Museum use. The Gardens and flower beds to be kept free of weeds. Some annual plants are added each year for colour and variety. Anyone interested in these duties would set their own hours. It would be a great way to learn about the Community, and meet new friends. The Executive is the overseer of the various activities that keep the Museum and Society working.
