Tonight at 8:30 PM, we pause.
Not just to turn off the lights—
but to turn on awareness.
For one hour, we stand in the dark
to reflect on something bigger than ourselves.
As a nurse, I see every day how our environment impacts health:
🌿 air quality
💧 clean water
🌡️ climate-related illness
🏥 strain on our healthcare system
Climate change is not just an environmental issue—
it is a health issue.

RNAO Halton Chapter showed up

Air quality. Noise pollution. Water. Soil.
These are not just environmental issues — they are health issues.

As nurses, we see firsthand how climate and environmental strain impact respiratory health, cardiovascular disease, mental health, and our already stretched healthcare system.

Grateful to stand alongside community leaders and residents pushing for accountability and solutions. Advocacy doesn’t stop at the bedside.

Region 4 Chairs, alongside our Region 4 Director Poonam, came together at the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario Head Office for an incredibly impactful Queen’s Park Day meeting.

What unfolded was more than a meeting — it was a powerful, solution-focused dialogue.

We were honoured to hear from an exceptional panel of speakers who courageously shed light on the ongoing realities of racism within healthcare. These were not abstract conversations. They were lived experiences. Systemic barriers. Structural inequities. And most importantly — calls to action.
As nurses, we are patient advocates. But we must also be system advocates.

Racism in healthcare is not just a social issue — it is a patient safety issue. It impacts access, outcomes, trust, and workforce sustainability. Addressing it requires intentional leadership, policy change, and accountability — not just statements of solidarity.

Region 4 showed up.
We listened.
We reflected.
And we committed to action.

Grateful to stand alongside leaders who are not afraid to have difficult conversations in pursuit of a more equitable healthcare system for all.
