Stephen (Steve) King has been a Registered Clinical Counsellor since 1989. He worked as a child-care worker with Penticton Community Resources from 1980 to 1989 and worked at Pathways Addictions Resource Centre in Penticton from 1989 to 2023. During this time he was also a court services Justice of the Peace. He is presently providing counselling services at Wild Mountain Wellness Collective.
Steve is the originator of the Detachment Technique that is specifically used for First Responder sufferers of PTSD. A free DTech App is also provided and details can be viewed at www.detachmenttechnique.com
Steve also recently launched the TraumaEase App for Clinicians and the survivors of traumatic experiences, which offers an elegant, safe, speedy, seven-step trauma processing technique as well as a course-companion book. This App can be viewed at www.studio.co/stephen/trauma
Steve has authored two books on energy psychology and PTSD entitled, `Rapid Recovery: Accelerated Information Processing & Healing` and ‘PTSD: Cleaning and Clearing Shock & Trauma’ and has also authored the books’12 Steps to Authenticity’ and ‘The Book of Existential Questions’. He has also produced three online video courses about PTSD, Existentialism and Addictions, as well as audible courses on these same subjects.
Steve’s awards include being named Citizen of the Year in 1987, the Downtown Rotary Club’s Good Citizen Award, the Sports Leadership Award in 2001, the Sports BC President’s Award in 2004, he was inducted into the Athletics BC Hall of Fame in 2012 and the Ultraman Hall of Fame in 2024. He was presented with a lifetime achievement award from Triathlon BC in 2019 and was recently named as an honored listee in the Marquis Who’s Who.
Along with fellow counsellors Alicia Totten and Tammy Semple, he also produced an online course under the title ‘Children and Youth: Dissipating Depression, Anxiety & Trauma’.
