With Gratitude — Celebrating 10 Years of Impact:
After thoughtful reflection, I have made the difficult decision to end Lids4Kids Warmer Communities and to announce that our charity group will be formally concluding its operations after ten meaningful years.
This decision was not made lightly. Over the past decade, what began as an idea to help support homeless youth grew into a committed community of people who share the passion of providing service to those in need, while also enjoying our personal passion of knitting, crocheting and sewing.
Together, we created over 3000 warm wear pieces (hats, mittens, scarves, socks, slippers and blankets) donated annually to 16 organizations in Ottawa, Kingston and surrounding areas and Northern regions of Ontario.
Our recipients were families, youth, elderly, disadvantaged, homeless and geographically isolated individuals and doing so, we created measurable impact that extends far beyond what any one of us could have achieved alone.
I am forever grateful to the dedicated group of crafters that donated their time and their crafts year after year. That kind of participation, along with the advocacy, and quiet behind-the-scenes support has been the foundation of everything this group accomplished. Because of you, people we will never know were able to keep warm and hopefully felt the care of community around them.
While the group itself is concluding, the spirit of generosity and community continues.
I will be making one final delivery for the First Nations group of Thunder Bay in mid-March.
The connections formed, the lessons learned, and the generosity demonstrated over these ten years remain part of each of us. My wish is that we continue to stay connected and continue to support community where it is needed. Impact does not end simply because an organization closes; it continues through the people who carry its values forward.
Thank you for your trust, your engagement, and your belief in what we were building together.
It has been a privilege to work alongside you.
With sincere appreciation,
Karen…
