Memorial Medtech - BMES MUN Chapter

Memorial Medtech - BMES MUN Chapter Memorial University’s first biomedical engineering student design team, part of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES).

We bridge the gap between students and the biomedical industry while developing biomedical devices with real-world applications. Memorial Medtech is the MUN engineering faculty’s first biomedical engineering student team, composed of 13 undergraduate students across four disciplines. We specialize in the electrical and mechanical design of healthtech devices. Our team includes 7 executive members

overseeing administration, finances, social media, and intellectual property, alongside 6 technical members focused on mechanical and electronics subsystems. Currently, we are developing a medical device for the True North Canadian Biomedical Competition, scheduled for March 14th, 2026. This device, selected in partnership with industry sponsors, addresses real-world challenges and will be announced at the start of the fall semester. In addition to technical innovation, we aim to foster a community of biomedical engineers, bridging the gap between students and the biomedical industry in Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as across Canada. By participating in competitions and conferences, we strengthen connections with companies, helping students secure internships, research placements, and long-term career opportunities. Mission Statement: To cultivate a vibrant community of biomedical engineering students by engaging with industry partners, hosting events, and developing biomedical devices with real-world applications.
