Clarington Polar Bear Swim

Clarington Polar Bear Swim Our annual Clarington Polar Bear Swim is January 1st at the Newcastle Waterfront. We raise funds for Autism Home Base in memory of Hollylynn Towie.

Autism Home Base provides programs for autistic adults and the people who love them. What: Also known as the "Dash of Insanity" and the "Plunge for Life", swimmers brave the icy cold waters of Lake Ontario. Swimmers can register online, collect pledges, win a variety of prizes (ie best costume, youngest swimmer, most mature swimmer, highest fundraiser, etc) enjoy a hot chocolate and a warm bonfire

. When: January 1st at 2 pm. Online registration and fundraising can be done at claringtonpolarbearswim.com. Registration on the day of the event starts at 12:45pm. Who: Anyone brave enough to join us! Where: Newcastle Waterfront, Mill St. S

Why: To raise funds for the Hollylynn Towie Memorial Fund. Fund administered by Autism Home Base, a registered charity based in Bowmanville which provides social and recreational programs for autistic adults.

How: Take the Mill St. exit off the 401 and follow it down to the waterfront.

We have 2 categories with three competitors for each: Favorite Individual Costume and Favorite Team Costume!

Please comment the names of both your favorite individual & team costumes as shown in the picture - voting closes on Friday April 10th @ 8pm, and winners will be announced Monday the 13th!

Tomorrow is the day to make a big splash for autistic adults in our community!

Our annual polar bear swim raises funds for Autism Home Base through the Hollylynn Towie Memorial Fund.

There will be prizes for best costume and fundraising, a free gift for the first 200 swimmers registered and a huge bonfire to keep you warm. Clarington Emergency & Fire Services will also be present to provide their expertise and support if necessary.

If you have already registered online, please check in at our Pre-Registration Check-in Table outside when you arrive.

If you decide to sign up on-site, please go to the Registration Table inside the trailer. Also please bring cash to expedite registration.

If you are participating in our Costume Contest, please check in at our Costume Contest desk after event registration/checkin.

We will also have a BBQ and hot chocolate for a cash donation.
