Today, we celebrate Angelina Stiglich - A life-long changemaker!

Some people dedicate their lives to standing up for others, championing fairness, and making their communities a better place. Angelina Stiglich is one of them.

As President of Domestic Abuse Services and a staunch advocate for social justice, Angelina is committed to advancing a cause that touches countless lives: ensuring that women experiencing intimate partner violence are met with compassion, dignity, and support.

Her commitment reflects an important truth: creating a safer world for women takes more than awareness - it takes people who are willing to stand up, speak out, and be part of the change.

At Domestic Abuse Services, we are grateful for Angelina’s leadership and dedication to our mission of helping women move from crisis to stability, at their own pace.

Together, we can build a community where every woman has the opportunity to live safely, heal, and move forward with hope.

Could you walk beside her? Could you be the support she needs to heal and move forward?

Domestic Abuse Services works with many courageous women who have taken the brave step of leaving a dangerous relationship and are now striving to rebuild their lives. For many of these survivors, the greatest challenge is overcoming the deep emotional isolation and loss of trust that often follow trauma.

This is where you can make a real, lasting difference.

Our Mentor Program pairs compassionate individuals with survivors to provide encouragement, support, and a safe, non-judgmental space. You don't need a professional background in social work; you just need to be a stable presence who is willing to listen and support another person on their journey to healing and independence.

When you become a mentor, you help rebuild trust and prove to a survivor that she is not alone.

Understanding is the first step towards change.

Leaving an abusive relationship is rarely simple. A woman may find herself holding on to hope, believing promises of change, and wanting to trust someone she loves.

Understanding the cycle of abuse helps us see why breaking free can take time, courage and support.

But every woman deserves more than promises. She deserves safety, respect, peace of mind and the freedom to build a life on her own terms.

At Domestic Abuse Services, we believe in every woman’s strength and her ability to move forward. With the right support, she can begin to rebuild her confidence, rediscover her voice and take steps towards a safer, healthier future - at her own pace.

Do you know someone experiencing abuse? Listen without judgment, offer compassion, and remind her that she doesn't have to face it alone.

Sometimes, simply knowing someone cares can be the beginning of a new chapter.

A heartfelt thank you to ICBC Employee Community Involvement Program for their generous $800 donation to Domestic Abuse Services (DAS)!

Pictured here, Angel Figueroa presents the cheque to DAS President Angelina Stiglich, helping support our mission to walk alongside women affected by intimate partner violence as they rebuild their lives with safety, dignity, and hope.

Community support like this reminds us that meaningful change happens when people come together for a cause that matters.

Every single contribution helps us continue our work and make a difference in the lives of women and children in our community.

Thank you, Angel, for making this happen, and to ICBC, for standing with us and helping women move from crisis to stability, at their own pace!

Rally Your Workplace to Give the Gift of a New Beginning!

When co-workers come together with team spirit, incredible things happen. You can play a direct role in helping survivors rebuild their lives by hosting a workplace or community fundraiser for Domestic Abuse Services.

Uniting your team around a shared purpose is simple, fun, and deeply impactful.

Here are a few great ideas to get started:

- Dress-Down / Wear Jeans Day: Have staff donate $5$ to trade formal office wear for jeans for a day.
- Holiday Pub Night Fundraiser: Turn your team’s seasonal holiday party into a festive fundraiser with a silent auction or door prizes.
- Wear Pink Day: Pick a day for everyone to wear pink in solidarity, raising awareness and funds together.
- Raffle or Bake Sale: Host a friendly inter-department bake-off or raffle off an extra vacation day or gift baskets.

Whether you're a small office or a large team, your collective effort provides safety, hope, and a fresh start for women and children in our community.

Ready to bring your team together for a purpose? Reach out to us today or tag a co-worker below who can help organize your first event!
