Calling all costume enthusiasts and community partners! 🎭

The West Coast Costume Society is growing, and we need your help to make donating easier than ever.

We’ve heard from many of you that you'd love a way to clear out your costume trunks outside of our usual seasonal windows. While our wonderful partnership with Vancouver Island Regional Library branches in Nanaimo will continue as always starting in September, we are looking for an additional, year-round "home base" for donations.

We are looking for a local business or organization to host:
-A Simple Setup: Just enough indoor space to house one storage tote (provided by us).
-Easy Access: A location that is accessible to the public most days of the week.
-Community Impact: A spot where folks can drop off gently used costumes whenever inspiration (or spring cleaning) strikes!

If you have a corner of your shop, office, or community hub to spare—or know a local business that loves Halloween—please reach out via DM or drop a comment below.

There are so many amazing causes to support this year, and we’re grateful to be part of a community that gives so generously to so many.

Our request this Giving Tuesday is simple:

We are looking for new/gently used storage totes, or, funds to purchase totes, so we can properly store costumes between events and continue offering free access to costumes for families next year.

We would love to accept donations year-round, but without secure, sealed totes to keep costumes safe and protected, we risk damage from moisture, pests, and storage wear. Having sturdy bins on hand helps us grow sustainably, stay organized, and make sure every costume gets a second (or third!) chance to shine again.

If you’d like to support us this Giving Tuesday, even one bin makes a difference!

🎃 Attention Local Businesses & Thrift Stores!

As Halloween wraps up and you start making room for more 🎅festive stock, please keep the West Coast Costume Society in mind!

We’re looking for bulk costume donations, gently used or unsold Halloween items that can be stored and reused for next year’s Community Costume Boo-tique.

🧵 We’re happy to pick up:
👗 Costumes (all sizes)
🎩 Accessories (hats, wigs, masks, props)
🕸️ Display or décor items

Your leftover stock can make a big difference next year, helping local families access free costumes while keeping good materials out of the landfill. 🌎

What an incredible day at the Costume Boo-tique! 🎉

Thanks to everyone who shared the event info, attended, donated, or volunteered, we were able to send around 300 costumes back out into the community today! 👗🦸‍♀️👻

Keep an eye out for our costume collection bins again next September, and if your business or organization would like to get involved, we’re always looking for donations or partnerships to help with promotion and help cover event costs and keep the magic going. ✨
