Central Island Salmon Society

Central Island Salmon Society United to save our salmon, and rehabilitate our streams. Many of these crucial streams that hold salmon are in danger.

Central Island Salmon Association is a non-profit group focused on monitoring and rehabilitating wild salmon stocks and their environments.

This beautiful Island is riddled with small streams and tributaries to larger rivers. They are the life veins of the island. This is largely due to nutrients brought by spawning salmon. Farming, pollution and lack of ecological respect have left many small ignored streams barren with no proper substrate for salmon to spawn. We are a group of volunteers set to providing an oasis in these barren streams, at least, one section of stream where salmon can spawn in peace, and drastically increase populations in the area. By monitoring and rehabilitating local streams and tributaries, CISS will accomplish

-Provide DFO with comprehensive counts of salmon in streams, they would otherwise not have the staff to monitor.
-Restore salmon to remote areas, providing the nutrients the eco-system needs
-Provide a small role in making this beautiful island we all love the ecological paradise it deserves to be.
