As our fishers sail out of the “harbour” tomorrow morning, for the first time ever, the beautiful Memorial Buoy Tree will shine brightly, awaiting their safe return and a bountiful catch!

ON SUNDAY, APRIL 19TH AT 1PM, WE ARE DOING SOME MAINTENANCE TO THE MURRAY HARBOUR MEMORIAL BUOY TREE. WE WILL -

1. ADD NEW BUOYS (FILLER AND MEMORIAL).
2. CHANGE OUT THE “MERRY CHRISTMAS” BUOYS.
3. RE-STRING LIGHTS.
4. AND ANYTHING ELSE WHICH NEEDS TO BE TWEAKED.

IF YOU HAVE A MEMORIAL BUOY YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ADDED TO THE TREE, WANT TO HELP OUT OR JUST WANT TO CHAT, FEEL FREE TO DROP BY.

PLEASE NOTE - WE ARE HAVING A PAINTING PARTY ON THURSDAY MORNING (APRIL 9) AT 10AM IN BEACH POINT. ALL YOU NEED IS TO BRING A BRUSH AND WEAR SOME OLD CLOTHES! Contact us for more details……

We are looking for any old paint you might have…..the brighter and more fluorescent, the better and if you have any old painted buoys kicking around, we would be thrilled to take them off your hands!!!!!

Greetings friends ……with the Lobster season “just around the corner”, we are preparing the Memorial Tree to once again be “aglow”. The issue with the electrical outlet been resolved 🫰🏼 and we will be “tweaking” the lights and the buoys on the tree.

You will notice the tree being “tweaked” with new buoys being hung, lights being rearranged and some general maintenance being done. That being said, this would be a PERFECT time for you to place your SPECIAL buoy on the tree. You can place a buoy of your own on the tree or if you need to purchase a buoy to paint or if you need a buoy painted for your loved one, we can make that happen.

Good Morning Murray Harbour and Area ………it’s been quite a week since the “Memorial Buoy Tree” has become part of the tapestry of the area. We have received many wonderful comments and photos of “your tree” and Lot 64 is honoured, proud and indeed humbled to have been a part of making it happen.

Perhaps some of the most touching memories for us have been watching as people have come to the tree to just stand before it, read the names and reflect! As one person told us “Even though his final rest place is somewhere else, it’s here where I feel him- in the wind, in the salt air, even in the cold”! Or receiving calls from “off Island” telling us how much it has meant to see their loved ones names hanging on the tree for “this place was always home!”

As you know, the “Memorial Buoy Tree”, although built from aluminum and buoys, is a “living tree”, continually evolving and continually growing. It’s never too late to place the buoy of your loved one on the tree and what better time than Christmas to do so. You can have one of us to place it for you or you can do it yourself.

Finally, please feel free to share your pictures of the tree - there is someone, somewhere who needs to see it!

We are one sleep away …….

Yesterday, the top section of the Memorial Buoy Tree was decorated using unclaimed buoys from the original “Trap/BuoyTree”. This gesture linked the original tree to the new “Memorial Buoy Tree”, a symbol of the importance of the past being a part of the present.

Lot 64 would like to thank Maureen, Beth, Delite, Carol, Bruce, Mark Mac, Mark Edgar, Dave, Donna, Ed and the impeccable Miss Maeve for helping to paint the old buoys, supply paint and place buoys on the top section of the tree.

Today, White’s Fabrication will put the tree in place and connect the two sections. Then we will begin placing the “memorial buoys”.

If you haven’t already dropped your memorial buoy off, we would ask you to do so today. We will be at 10 Mariner or the tree the majority of the day BUT if it happens we aren’t there, just drop the buoy inside of 10 Mariner.

It has been a very humbling experience to receive each of your buoys. With each inscription or name, you can’t help but remember each person, their story, their legacy, their love! We, at Lot 64, know you will feel the very same!

Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

We promised someone to check for a buoy in the memory of someone but unfortunately we could not locate it but we did document the buoys with “names” on them - some are 100% and can go back on the new tree unless another buoy is given to us to replace it - some are faint as it’s best.
