📊 Marconi District Registration Update — Spots Are Going Fast! 🍀💛

We are so thrilled with the response to registration this year — our Marconi District units are filling up and the energy heading into the new Guiding year is absolutely incredible! ✨

Take a look at our unit update graphic to see where spaces currently stand across all of our units. The good news? There are still spots available in most units — but as you can see, some are already filling up quickly!

⚠️ A few things to note:

🔴 Our 4th Mount Pearl Sparks now has a waitlist of 3 — if your little one is Sparks age and you haven't registered yet, don't wait!

🔴 Our 11th Mount Pearl Embers also has a waitlist of 8 — spaces in this unit are gone, but other Embers units still have room!

🔴 Our 9th Mount Pearl Guides has a waitlist of 1 — check out our other Guides units which still have spaces available!

🆕 Exciting news — we have THREE brand new units this year that are still welcoming new members:
✨ 1st Mount Pearl Sparks
✨ 14th Mount Pearl Embers
✨ 11th Mount Pearl Guides

🧶 And don't forget our brand new 1st Marconi Extra Ops – Fibre Arts group is also open — just one Thursday evening a month for girls aged 9–17!

Girl Guides of Canada is looking for adult volunteers to be part of new units opening in your community!

As part of a unit’s leadership team, you’ll facilitate fun and engaging program activities, including outdoor exploration, community involvement, crafts, STEM activities, games and more with our Sparks (ages 5-6), Embers (ages 7-8) and Guides (ages 9-11). No previous experience with Girl Guides as a girl or adult member is required.

Volunteers receive access to free trainings, mentorship and a digital program platform stocked with age-appropriate activities and meeting tools, as well as training on how to deliver activities in ways that will empower and encourage girls.

An average time commitment of 3 - 5 hours per week for unit meetings and planning is expected. Additional hours may be needed for special events or trips. Part-time roles are available if weekly attendance doesn't suit your schedule.

🏕️ And that's a wrap on Marconi District Camp 2025! 💛🌲

What an absolutely incredible weekend. From Friday evening's first campfire to this morning's final goodbyes— our members gave it everything they had and then some. 💪

Whether it was our Sparks conquering their very first night at camp, or our Rangers leading activities for the younger sections — every single camper should be incredibly proud of themself this weekend."]

To our amazing Guiders who planned, packed, stayed up late, woke up early, and made every moment of this weekend possible — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Volunteer Guiders are the backbone of everything we do, and weekends like this are a testament to their dedication. 💜

And to our campers — we hope you're heading home tired, happy, a little muddy, and full of memories that will last a lifetime. That's what camp is for. 🌟

🔥 No fire? No problem. That's the Guiding way! 🏕️💛

This weekend at Marconi District Camp, we were under a fire ban — which meant no campfire flames. But if you think that stopped our members from having their campfire moment, you clearly haven't met a Guide before! 😄

Our Marconi members gathered together just as they always would, found a creative solution, and made it work. Because that's what Guides do.

There were songs. There were s'mores. There was laughter that echoed through the trees. And there was that special kind of magic that only happens when a big group sits together in the dark, shoulder to shoulder, and just enjoy being exactly where they are. ✨

A fire ban can take away the flames — but it absolutely cannot take away the spirit. 💚

We'd call that a campfire success. 🔥✔️

Greetings from District Camp — Day 2! 🏕️💪

What a day it has been for our Marconi members! Here's a peek at what our campers have been up to today:

🔥While the Sparks packed up and the Embers arrived and set up their bunks, Guider Leanne led a session on Wilderness Survival with the Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers.
🌿 Guider Leanne lead a Nature Walk for everyone to look at the plants and wildlife in our camping area
🤝Then everyone had fun with activities related to different TV shows - Survivor, Amazing Race, The Price is Right, and Minute to Win it.
🪢And of course some time to work on crafts and SWAPS

It was such a fun day! Every one cheering each other on, older girls helping younger ones, and smiles from morning to night.

This is exactly why we camp. 💛🌍

One more night at camp — we'll have a final wrap-up post tomorrow! 🌙⛺

⛺✨First night of District Camp done! ✅

Tents are up, sleeping bags are unrolled, and the excitement is absolutely contagious. There is something truly special about watching 62 girls from across Marconi District — Sparks, (Embers arrive today and stay tonight), Guides, Pathfinders, and Rangers — come together under the same sky. 🌟

Despite the fire ban, everyone still got to enjoy s'mores!

🏕️ This weekend, Marconi District is heading to camp! ⛺💛

One of the most magical parts of Girl Guiding is the tradition of camping — and this weekend, girls from every section of Marconi District are packing their bags, lacing up their boots, and heading outdoors together for our District Camp!

From our youngest Sparks experiencing their very first camp, to our Rangers who have been camping with Guides for years — there is nothing quite like the experience of camp to bring girls together, build confidence, and create memories that last a lifetime. 🌲✨

Camping in Girl Guides isn't just about sleeping in bunks or tents. It's about learning to work as a team, trying things you've never done before, stepping outside your comfort zone, and discovering just how capable you really are. 💪

Stay tuned this weekend as we share highlights from our District Camp! We can't wait to show you what our Marconi members get up to when they head into the great outdoors. 🍃🔥

📊 Marconi District Unit Update — Registration is Open and Spots are Filling Fast! 🍀

We are so excited to share our latest unit update for the upcoming Guiding year! As you can see, Marconi District is BUSY — and we love it! 💛

The great news? There are still lots of spaces available in most of our units across Mount Pearl and Surrounding Areas. Whether your daughter is brand new to Guiding or returning for another amazing year, now is the perfect time to register!

A few highlights from our update:

🆕 We have THREE brand new units this year — 1st Mount Pearl Sparks, 14th Mount Pearl Embers, and 11th Mount Pearl Guides — welcoming girls and non-binary individuals at multiple age levels!

🧶 Our brand new 1st Marconi Extra Ops – Fibre Arts group is also open for registration — a flexible, once-a-month option for girls and non-binary individuals aged 9–17 who want to stay connected to Guiding!

⚠️ A heads up — some of our units do have waitlists forming, so we encourage families to register sooner rather than later to secure a spot!

Marconi District serves girls and non-binary individuals aged 5 to 17 across five sections:

🧶 Exciting News from Marconi District — Introducing our Fibre Arts Extra Ops Group! 🧵✨

We are thrilled to announce something brand new for girls and non-binary individuals in the Mount Pearl and surrounding areas — a Fibre Arts Extra Ops group is coming to Marconi District Girl Guides!

So what is Extra Ops? Extraordinary Options (Extra Ops) is an innovative way to experience Girl Guiding built around a single activity or theme. Girls who join an Extra Ops group get all the fun, friendship, and skills of Guiding — focused on something they love!

Our Extra Ops group is all about the wonderful world of Fibre Arts 🧶 We'll be exploring:
🪡 Knitting
🧶 Crocheting
🪢 Rug Hooking
✂️ And so much more!

No experience necessary — beginners are absolutely welcome! Whether your youth has never picked up a pair of knitting needles or has been crocheting since they could hold a hook, there is a place for them here.

📅 The group meets ONE Thursday evening per month — that's it! Low commitment, high fun.

👧 Open to girls and non-binary individuals of Guide, Pathfinder, and Ranger age (9–17) — so if your child is already in Guiding or is looking for a flexible way to get involved, this is a perfect fit.

You can join Extra Ops on its own or alongside your regular Guide unit — the choice is theirs! This is especially wonderful for youth who love Guiding but simply can't commit to weekly meetings. One evening a month is all it takes to stay connected, learn a new skill, and be part of something special. 💛🍀
