1sharing1 - From Heart to Mouth Think of the huge impact that the wealthy 1 % could make if they gave 1 % of their annual income to provide food, clothing and shelter for the very poor.

A society can really only be called “advanced” if it is able to care for its very poor, those that are cold, homeless and hungry. This is unfortunately not the case almost anywhere in the world. Wouldn't it be something quite momentous if one could change this. If one could awaken the desire to help those in dire need, then life for very many poor people in the world could be changed for the bette

r quickly and significantly. For the last few years we have heard a lot of complaints about the wealthy 1 % in the world. We have seen demonstrations spearheaded by the “99 %”, that in the end petered out, perhaps because no real alternatives could be offered. But there may be a way to motivate the top 1 % to approach this problem in a positive and constructive way. we need a formula where the 1 % need not feel defensive about their wealth and where the 99 % can say that something significant is being done about the income gap between the poor and the wealthy. in this way we could bring these two groups together. Since change starts small however, it requires an idea that is not too invasive upon one’s lifestyle, but still creates a major impact. So the idea is, if the 1 % of the wealthy are given an avenue to voluntarily donate 1 % of their annual income to a registered national charity and this would be disbursed through various social agencies to support individuals and families that cannot feed, clothe or house themselves properly, then this would offer the 1 % a golden opportunity to do good and the very poor, a chance to stay warm, eat and live in a decent dwelling. In this way, the 1% could truly do something towards reducing poverty on a global basis. Just to give you an idea, in 2013 the top 1 % (275,000) in Canada earned an average of $ 380,000 per year. If one quarter of them would donate 1 % of their income per year, (or an average of $3800 per year) then this would contribute about $ 260,000,000 in a one year period. The figures for the US are approximately the same (except the number of 1% earners is about ten times as many). These estimates vary according to source but the principle remains the same. Just as a comparison, it is estimated that the bottom 1% earned an average of $2,500 in the same period. Just think of the housing, food and clothing that this could pay for the poorest among us. That would be a great beginning!

Was kannst du tun? Teilen! Teilen! Teilen!

From Heart to Mouth

A society can really only be called “advanced” if it is able to care for its very poor, those that are cold, homeless and hungry. This is unfortunately not the case in most countries of the world.

Wouldn't it be something quite momentous if one could change this? If we all could awaken the desire to help those in dire need, then life for very many could be changed, quickly and significantly.

The Situation - Think of the huge impact that the wealthy 1 % could make if they gave 1 % of their gross annual income to provide food, clothing and shelter for the very poorest amongst us.

In the last few years we have heard a lot of complaints about the so called wealthiest 1 % of the world. Now remember that the 1% are just the wealthiest of the wealthy. Since they are privileged to earn so much, then perhaps the 99% do have a point. In other words, could we not expect them to pay a bit more to support their fellow human beings who are extremely poor?

If there were only a simple way to correct a good part of this inequality...

If there were a way to motivate the top 1 % to approach this problem in a positive and constructive way, then we could create a higher degree of understanding between the top 1 % and the rest of society. Is this not what we need, for all of us to better understand each other and accept each other regardless if rich or poor and without pre judgement?

We need a formula where the wealthiest 1 % need not feel defensive about their wealth and have an opportunity to "do good" allowing the 99 % to say that something significant is being done by the very rich that constructively addresses the income gap between the very rich and the very poor.

The Idea - How would it be if the wealthiest 1% who own half of the world's wealth were encouraged to voluntarily donate 1 % of their annual gross income to a registered national charity for the purpose of supporting the poorest half that together can claim only 1% of a country's wealth? These funds would be disbursed to the poorest half of individuals and families that cannot feed, clothe or house themselves properly.

In this way, the wealthy 1% could more effectively use their wealth and power by doing something that would go towards significantly reducing poverty on a global scale. This change would not be too invasive upon the lifestyle of the very rich but at the same time, have an immense impact on many of the poorest.

This would offer the wealthiest 1 % a golden opportunity to do good and the very poor, a chance to stay warm, eat and live in a decent dwelling.

An example - In 2013 the richest 1 % in Canada (numbering 275,000 individuals) earned an average of $ 380,000 per year. Had they donated 1% of their income (or $3800 per year) for just this purpose, then this would have provided about $ 1,045,000,000 to support an effort such as this.

Comparative numbers for the US, are approximately the same and likely similar for most other countries in the world.

What can you do? Share! Share! Share!

Wouldn’t this be a great way to help deal with some of the worst of the global poverty that afflicts this world? A pretty small investment for those who can afford it but one with a great return on investment! Just think of the housing, food and clothing that this could pay for the poorest living beside and among us.

If you find this an idea worth sharing then simply “share”!

Help us create a movement that is positive and helps all of us become more aware of the plight facing some of the poorest and help alleviate their suffering. With our combined energy, we can begin to become more conscious and act on this hugely important moral and social issue. Even if you are not part of the elite 1%, you can lend your voice to help others who are most in need!.
