A Historic Judgment on ‘Canada’ — September 30

What does accountability look like when the harms never ended?

In May, the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal heard testimony about disappeared Indigenous children and unmarked burials associated with Indian Residential School, the forced or coerced sterilization of Indigenous Peoples and other ongoing impacts of colonial structures.

The Tribunal judges examined Canada’s responsibility under international law to determine if Canada committed human rights violations against Indigenous People.

The judges released a preliminary finding on May 29, 2026.

On September 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Tribunal will deliver its final judgment online.

We invite you to witness this historic international judgement and reflect on our shared responsibility to uphold the truth, seek accountability, and model the image Canada projects as a global champion of human rights.

We encourage Indigenous Nations, regional organizations, community leaders, and allies to share this live event. A copy of the final judgement will be sent to the federal government, the United Nations, and the Vatican as well as be made available online at our-truths.com.

Two Days Away.

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the 57th session of the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal on Missing and Disappeared Indigenous Children and Unmarked Burials will deliver its final human rights judgment on Canada's treatment of Indigenous Peoples.

After reviewing over 2,000 pieces of evidence presented alongside 5 days of witness testimony, the Tribunal will read its final judgement determining if Canada committed crimes against humanity and/or genocide against Indigenous Peoples.
