The McGill Student Emergency Response Team is a student-run volunteer service, supported by the Students' Society of McGill University (SSMU). Our mission is to provide a free and accessible first aid service to McGill University and the greater Montreal community. Our team is made up of 80+ dedicated volunteers that are certified First Responders and Emergency Medical Responders under the Canadian Red Cross. We carry a wide range of first aid equipment, including automated external defibrillators, oxygen tanks, naloxone, cervical collars, and Epi-Pens, and we operate under nationally-recognized protocols. We respond to all McGill residences, with the exception of Solin Hall, between the hours of 18h00 and 6h00. As an official training partner of the Canadian Red Cross, we aim to disseminate first aid knowledge and skills to the public, by offering first aid courses and certifications. MSERT also provides first aid coverage of Intramural Hockey, Gerts Bar, Frosh, Carnival, 4Floors, and many other events and locations

❤️ World Restart a Heart Day is October 16th!
To celebrate, MSERT is hosting a fun and interactive activity to raise awareness about CPR and AEDs (automated external defibrillators)~

🫀What exactly is an AED? An AED is a life-saving medical device that analyzes a person’s heart rhythm and, when needed, delivers an electrical shock to help restore an effective rhythm. Even better, anyone can use an AED! These devices provide clear, step-by-step instructions to guide you through the process.

🤔 Did you know that for every minute defibrillation is delayed, the chances of survival can decrease by ~10%? That’s why knowing where to find an AED can make a real difference in an emergency!

🔎 MSERT is challenging you to explore your surroundings and locate AEDs in your community. Not only are you entered in a raffle to win a prize, but it’s also an opportunity to familiarize yourself with where these life-saving devices are located before you ever need one.

This past year, MSERT has responded to 431 overnight shifts, 166 intramural shifts, and 91 special events. Most of our team is now ASIST-certified and we offered more than 25 first aid courses. Thank you for your trust and support in helping us keep campus safe! See you again next year :)

This year, MSERT participated in the NCEMSF conference, which was filled with plenty of workshops, lectures, and networking with other collegiate EMS teams. We learned some new skills and MSERT uses this opportunity every year to improve our services for YOU :)

We also brought home a FIRST PLACE TROPHY competing against 39 other EMS teams in the BLS skills competition!!! Here are some photos sharing this memorable experience!

Cette année, ÉPRUM a participé à la conférence NCEMSF, qui comprenait de nombreux ateliers, conférences et occasions de réseautage avec d’autres équipes EMS universitaires. Nous avons acquis de nouvelles compétences et ÉPRUM profite de cette opportunité chaque année pour améliorer nos services pour VOUS :)

Nous avons également remporté un TROPHÉE DE PREMIÈRE PLACE en compétition contre 39 autres équipes EMS lors de l’épreuve de compétences BLS!!! Voici quelques photos pour partager cette expérience mémorable!
