Rocinha from a Tourism Perspective

*Rocinha Favela*, located in Rio de Janeiro’s South Zone between the neighborhoods of São Conrado and Gávea, is one of the largest and most populous communities in Latin America. From a tourism perspective, it represents a unique, fascinating, and complex destination, attracting thousands of domestic and international visitors every year.

Tourism Appeal: Why do tourists visit?

Cultural and Social Dimension: Rocinha functions almost like a “city within a city,” featuring a thriving local commercial scene, a cultural center, samba schools, restaurants, bars, and art studios. Tourism in the community offers an immersion into the vibrant daily life of Cariocas (Rio locals).
