Research project on the impact of COVID-19 on the black population in Canada: survey participation needed
Hello everyone.
If you identify as African, Caribbean, Black (ACB), or of mixed race (with one parent being black), and/or
If you have a partner or children who identify as African, Caribbean, black, or mixed race (with one parent being black), then this message is for you.
Myself and a group of black Canada-based researchers, in collaboration with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), are looking into the impact of COVID-19 on the black population in Canada. I need your participation in collecting data that would help us understand how our ACB community (yours and mine) have been affected by COVID-19 via an online survey. This survey collects information about racism, stigmatisation, food security and housing stability, employment, discrimination, mental health, socio-economic stability and substance use with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic. The final section of the survey focuses on sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections and access to these services. All sections that do not apply to you will automatically be skipped. This survey is anonymous and confidential. Information we collect will be used to advocate for, as well as develop programs for the black communities in Quebec and Canada as a whole. Without your participation, without you completing this survey and telling us how you are affected, we will not have the evidence that we need to effect changes that would benefit us, the black people.
Please complete this survey before June 25, 2021 at the following link: https://ca1se.voxco.com/SE/135/COVID_ACB/
Please share this information and the survey link with your friends, family and various groups.
No one can tell your story better than you! Thank you.
