This week's focus is the Greater Moncton Running Club - a focal point for all your running groups and out there doing their own thing! we spoke with Lindsay, one of the co-founders!

When did you start - year? The Greater Moncton Running Club was started in 2015.

When do you run walk? Where do you meet? GMRC is a "big tent" group, which has several smaller groups that meet regularly within it - including the 8@8 Gang Saturday mornings from the YMCA, Sunday morning long runs from the Sobeys in Riverview at 8am, the Women's Trail Running Group on Tuesdays that meet at various trails at 6:30pm, the Running Room Run Club that meets Wednesdays at 6pm from their storefront, just as some examples.

Different paces or everyone runs together? These groups are generally welcoming of all runners and paces - there'll be some speedy people doing 4 min/km pace, and some doing closer to 7min/km pace.

Age ranges? All ages can come out for runs - we have some young teens coming out with their parent, and we have some "well seasoned" runners with lots of miles on them!

Do you have events that you organise yourself? GMRC organizes a few events during the year, with our main event being the Ice Cream Run 5&10km every August! Every finisher gets a Dilly Bar from Dairy Queen at the end. We also put on the 12Ks of Christmas at the end of November to help raise donations for the local food bank. Anyone who is interested in our events can follow our Facebook or Instagram pages to get updates and news about them.

This week's run club focus is the Riverview Running Idiots - yes they call themselves that and no it wasn't me! Their name says everything you need to know about them! We asked Kendra a few questions in case you want a new group of wonderfully spirited runners to go out with!

When did you start? I started doing the LTR clinic around 2012/2013. I took the first LTR clinic ever offered by the Town of Riverview. After a few years the person who was doing it got injured (imagine!) and couldn't run. So I asked if I could step in. Around 2014 we had a few successful clinics and Facebook groups was really just becoming a thing. Before that we emailed on the daily--I would email Monday to see who was coming out Tuesday at 6. Someone said, we need a page. And I said as long as we can call it Riverview Running Idiots.

When do you run? We meet Tuesdays at 6 p.m. That's our night. But we also have a weekend run that depends on who is organizing it. We have a few die hards who post weekend runs. We had a great thing going then Covid hit. That stalled things quite a bit but we're still going fairly strong. Our Tuesday night runs vary Riverview locations.

Where do you meet? We meet at Claude D. Taylor, Chocolate River, Banky, or Boys and Girls. In the fair weather months we definitely prefer the trails! But in the winter Banky is the best for avoiding the wind and the roads are always plowed better. Also in the summer there's always the lure of a beer after at Holy Whale.

Do you all run together or do you have pace groups? We have many different paces. From the beginning I didn't want the structure of the Running Room. We will leave you behind if we have to HA HA. We for sure circle back and pick up people at a different pace, but we also don't make any promises. We don't hold hands - come out and have a great time. Our group runs now usually have about 3 pace groups. We manage to work it out.I'm making it sound not great but it really is quite supportive in it's own way.

What age range do you have? We have many ages but I would say we lean more to 40-60 year olds. We're not getting a lot of people in their 20's. We pride ourselves on being unserious and happy runners. Not that people aren't doing fantastic things but we're not trying to be professionals if you know what I mean.
