At some point, we have to stop asking ourselves who everyone else needs us to be and actually ask:
❓️Who am I when nobody is watching or asking me to be any certain way?⁉️
Not who I SHOULD be.
Not who would make someone else more comfortable.
Not who fits neatly into someone else's expectations, understanding, perception, or version of what or how a person is supposed to be or show up.
Who am I❓️
I've come to understand that being comfortable in who we are doesn't require believing we've figured everything out.
We're still learning.
Still growing.
Still getting things wrong.
Still discovering parts of ourselves. We didn't understand before.
And for me I'm okay with that!
Because I don't believe we reach some magical finish line where we become fully healed, perfectly self-aware, and suddenly have nothing left to learn.
Honestly, that sounds boring as hell. 😂
Being a work in progress doesn't make us unfinished in the sense that something is wrong with us.
It makes us human.
We can be enough now and still want more for ourselves.
We can recognize where we have room to grow without turning that awareness into evidence that we're somehow deficient.
We can acknowledge our mistakes, take responsibility for them, make different choices, and continue forward without handing someone else the authority to define our worth💸.
And perhaps most importantly:
We don't have to become less of ourselves so someone else can feel more comfortable with who we are.
⚠️That isn't an invitation to disregard other people.
It's an invitation to stop abandoning ourselves.⛔️
There is a difference.
🎒🛍I believe deeply in compassion. In empathy. In forgiveness. In understanding that every person carries experiences, wounds, beliefs, hopes, fears, and perspectives that shape the way they move through this world.👛👜👝
I believe in meeting people where they are.
I also believe we are allowed to meet ourselves there, too.
We don't all have to believe the same things.
We don't have to live the same way.
We don't have to understand the world through the same lens.⚖️
🧲Our spirituality may look different. Our relationship with energy, nature, consciousness, humanity, or something greater than ourselves may look completely different.
That difference doesn't make one person more worthy than another.
There is room for all of it.
There is room to question.
To explore.
To disagree.
To grow.
To change.
To remain exactly where we are for a while.
There is room to be human.
And maybe that is part of what I am becoming increasingly unwilling to compromise:
I don't want to create a life, a business, or a space that requires people to become something they're not in order to belong.
☮️I want to create spaces where people can actually look at themselves honestly.
☯️Where they can discover who they are beneath the expectations, labels, conditioning, fear, and stories they've accumulated along the way.
Not so someone else can tell them who they should become.
So they can decide for themselves.
Because there is something powerful about finally being able to stand in who we are without needing permission for it.
So maybe that's the question worth sitting with:
❓️❓️Who are you when nobody is asking you to be anything❓️❓️
🔗And what might become possible if you stopped trying to answer that question through everyone else's eyes?⛓️💥
