We thank all karateka, families, volunteers and friends who made the 2026 Invitational ISKF NB tournament a memorable event.

Every kata, kumite match and every moment shared reflected the true spirit of karate: respect, discipline, and unity. We are especially thankful to our colleagues from Halifax, and to Sensei Tony Tam for his presence, guidance, and inspiration to all who follow the Shotokan path. Osu!

It’s tomorrow! the 2026 ISKF NB Invitational Tournament

Join us for a special day dedicated to the spirit of karate, bringing together students, families, and senseis for a memorable event filled with learning, discipline, and friendly competition.



Below is the program for the day:



10:00 AM – Gates Open



11:20 AM – Opening Ceremony (Welcome Speech)

11:30 AM – Dan Exam

12:00 – 01:00 PM – Seminar with Sensei Tony

01:10 – 01:15 PM – Kata Presentation (ISKF-NS Female Team)

01:15 – 01:20 PM – Demonstration by Sensei Tony

01:30 – 03:00 PM – Youth Tournament (3 Rings)

Medals will be awarded immediately after the finals in each ring.



03:00 – 04:00 PM – Adult Tournament

Important: We kindly ask parents to bring some snacks and drinks for their children, as the tournament will run throughout the afternoon.

Important: No Karate Class Tomorrow. No Kinder Karate Tomorrow.

Please note that the grading results and belt ceremony originally scheduled for this evening’s class (Wednesday, March 11) will be postponed due to a delay in receiving the certificates. These will now take place during Sunday’s class on March 15.

We already have 41 students registered, and we are very happy with this strong response , but we would love to see as many students as possible!

ISKF NB Invitational Karate Tournament

We warmly invite all ISKF members to take part in this event! It will be an excellent opportunity to demonstrate spirit, technique, and dedication on the tatami. We are also pleased to welcome students from the Nova Scotia International Shotokan Karate Federation.

This tournament will be a unique chance to exchange experiences, strengthen friendships through karate, and most importantly, serve as outstanding preparation for our National Competition this May in Calgary.

Secure your spot as soon as possible! The registration deadline is February 27, 2026. Do not wait until the last minute. Come represent your dojo with pride !

There will also be a seminar with Sensei Tony Tam (ISKF certified instructor and technical committe member - 8th dan).

GRADING

Grading will take place at the YMCA Vaughan Harvey location
on the following date:

Sunday, February 8, 2026

• White, Yellow, Oranges belts: from 4:00 to 5:00– Main Gym

• Green and Blues belts: same time (4:00 to 5:00 PM)– Studio upstairs

• Browns: from 5:00 to 6:00PM – Studio upstairs

The following, as usual, applies:
1. You must know your kata level as well as all previous katas.
2. You must know your level of Kihon.
3. You must know your Kumite level (one step, three steps, semi-free, and free).
4. You must pay a grading fee of $45 before the grading.

You will be informed (until February 6th) in class, individually, if you qualify for the grading or not.

Stay active, build confidence, and move with purpose in our Senior 50+ Shotokan Karate Class. This class is designed specifically for adults looking for a safe, structured, and rewarding way to stay fit.

This class focuses on balance, flexibility, coordination, and functional strength, all at a comfortable pace. Shotokan karate helps improve posture, joint mobility, mental focus, and overall well-being, while also teaching practical self-defence principles in a supportive, respectful environment. No previous karate experience is required.

When: Every Saturday
Time: 9:15 AM – 10:15 AM
Where: YMCA of Greater Moncton at the North End location
First class: Tomorrow morning (10th of January 2026)
