Phil and John are the original co-founders who brought Camp Choice to British Columbia, laying the foundation for the organization and its continued impact.

Together with our dedicated Board of Directors, coaches, volunteers and supporters, they remain committed year after year to serving youth and advancing the Camp Choice mission.

Earlier this month, Camp Choice BC had the privilege of welcoming Darren Jacklin as a guest speaker at our most recent camp. Darren inspired our youth with his story and his powerful message of courage, resilience, leadership and believing in what is possible. 💙

Only weeks later, Darren witnessed the catastrophic flooding and devastation in Nepal. We are incredibly grateful that he is safe and able to share this firsthand account with CBC News. 🇳🇵

The scale of the loss is heartbreaking. The entire Camp Choice BC community sends its thoughts and prayers to everyone affected, the families still waiting for news, and the courageous rescue teams working under extremely difficult conditions. 🙏💔

There are moments at Camp Choice that are hard to explain unless you’ve witnessed them yourself.

A room full of young people cheering each other on. Laughing. Showing up. Taking risks. Being seen. And slowly realizing they’re capable of more than they thought.

This is what Camp Choice is about.

It’s not just the activities or the few days we spend together. It’s the confidence built, the connections made, the walls that come down, and the belief that begins to grow.

Sometimes the biggest transformation starts with one simple moment of courage — surrounded by people reminding you that they’re in your corner.

Believe you can, and you’re halfway there. 💙
