❤️ A Legacy That Will Live On ❤️
Today, the Camp Choice BC family joins countless others in mourning the passing of Mel Zajac.
For many years, Mel’s generosity and vision have helped create life-changing opportunities for young people across British Columbia. Since 2017, Camp Choice BC has been incredibly fortunate to call Zajac Ranch home for our annual camp for youth at risk. Through Mel’s kindness and belief in young people, hundreds of youth have experienced a week filled with hope, mentorship, leadership, friendship, and personal growth.
At Camp Choice BC, we often talk about changing the trajectory of a young person’s life. Mel understood that better than most. He believed every child deserved an opportunity, regardless of the barriers they faced. That belief became the foundation of Zajac Ranch and continues to inspire everything we do.
Many of our youth arrived at camp carrying challenges, self-doubt, and uncertainty. They left with confidence, new friendships, and a renewed belief in themselves. Those transformations are part of Mel’s legacy.
While we are saddened by his passing, we are grateful for the doors he opened, the lives he touched, and the opportunities he created for generations of young people.
On behalf of our Board, coaches, volunteers, alumni, and the hundreds of youth who have benefited from Camp Choice BC, thank you, Mel. Your impact reaches far beyond the Ranch and will continue to be felt for many years to come.
