Duel It

Duel It An annual event to raise funds for kids cancer. In 2015 we had our inaugural event hoping to raise $2500 for the Ride to Conquer Cancer.

Since our inaugural event in 2015, we have raised $523,234 helping kids affected by cancer, including camps, research and other support needed. After shaving 4 heads and raising over $15K, we had attendees that night express that they wanted this to be an annual event. In 2016 we implemented 2 'Dueling' charities; Tour for Kids (http://www.tourforkids.com/alberta/about/coast-to-coast/) and Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation (http://myhealthfoundation.ca/)

THANKFUL THURSDAY

This donation was pure self care magic. Huge thank you to Urban Aesthetics for donating a 6 month self care package with six facials, six luxury pedicures, and six brow lamination and tint appointments.

Their support helped our live auction reach $31,000, and that money goes toward kids and families walking through childhood cancer. It helps bring comfort, support, and a little breathing room when life feels heavy.

Urban Aesthetics, thank you for showing up in a way that truly matters.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

If you’ve been around Duel It for even a minute, you know this isn’t just a “cause month” for us. It’s real kids. Real families. Real long days, hard news, and the kind of strength that makes you stop and check yourself.

Today, we’re holding space for every family impacted by childhood cancer, and we’re sending love to the kids who keep showing up with more courage than anyone should ever need.

And to everyone who has supported Duel It in any way, donating, sponsoring, riding, volunteering, sharing, or cheering us on, thank you. You’ve helped build something that truly matters. 💛🎗️

Ride of Courage – Day 2 (Saturday Evening) 💛🚴

Saturday evening was the “formal” banquet… well, as formal as a room full of cyclists can be!

We were incredibly humbled to learn that, for the fourth year in a row, Team Duel It has been recognized as the Top Fundraising Team for the Ride of Courage.

This recognition doesn’t belong to us alone. It belongs to every person who has donated, attended Duel It, volunteered, sponsored, shared our story, and believed in what we’re trying to accomplish. Your generosity makes moments like this possible, and we are so grateful for your support.

After dinner, we had the opportunity to tour the five beautiful new treehouses that have been built at Camp Kindle. They are absolutely incredible. This upcoming Monday, the first campers of the summer will arrive, and I can’t imagine a more magical place for them to laugh, play, and simply be kids.

One story from tonight will stay with me for a very long time.

Beth, one of the camp nurses, shared the story of a teenager receiving palliative care whose biggest wish while at camp was to ride the zip line. Because she relied on oxygen, it would have been easy to say it wasn’t possible. Instead, the Camp Kindle team found a way. They carefully developed a safe plan, adjusted her oxygen support, and gave her the chance to soar through the trees.

A few months later, she passed away. But because of the compassion, creativity, and determination of the camp staff, she experienced the freedom, excitement, and joy of simply being a teenager—if only for a moment. She wasn’t defined by her illness. She was just a kid at camp.

That’s what Camp Kindle does. It creates memories that last a lifetime, even when that lifetime is far too short.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Kids Cancer Care and Team Duel It. Your generosity helps create these unforgettable moments for children and families when they need them most. ❤️

Day 2 | Ride of Courage 💛🚴‍♀️

Today, I have the privilege of serving as a Rest Stop Lead, alongside four incredible young adults who have chosen to spend their time supporting kids and families impacted by cancer. Their energy, kindness, and willingness to give back remind me exactly why this community is so special.

Today I also had the opportunity to read Inaara’s story.

At just 13 years old, Inaara was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Cancer changed her life in ways no child should ever have to experience. But through Kids Cancer Care and Camp Kindle, she found something every young person deserves—a place where she belonged.

She found friends who understood her journey. She discovered confidence, leadership, and purpose. She even went on to lead fundraising efforts at her school, raising more than $30,000 to help other kids facing cancer.

It’s a powerful reminder that our ride is about so much more than kilometres. Every pedal stroke, every donation, every volunteer, and every supporter helps create life-changing experiences for children like Inaara.

To the amazing volunteers I’m working with today—thank you for giving your time and your hearts. You are making a difference, and I’m grateful to be part of this journey with you.

If you’d like to support our Ride of Courage and help provide more kids with a place where they belong, please consider donating through the link in my bio or at www.linktr.ee/duelitmh.

💛 Together, we’re riding for hope.

Why do we do this, you ask?
— Because we can. No child should ever have toxic drugs so bad they can’t get kisses or hold hands with their parents.

“Celia’s chemo included a drug so toxic that we had to be double-gloved to bathe her every four hours, while her bedding was changed. We couldn’t even kiss our little girl or hold her hand without a protective barrier. It broke our hearts.”
— Celia’s dad Bob

THANKFUL THURSDAY ⚾🧢

Picture this. You and 11 friends tucked in behind home plate, crack of the bat, big cheers, and the kind of view that makes you feel like you’re part of the game.

Our Duel It family is sending lots of love and healing wishes to our buddy, Foster, who broke his leg yesterday. 💛🩼

Many of you know Foster and his sister, Kaidence, who have been an important part of the Duel It family for several years, representing children and families impacted by pediatric cancer. Foster’s journey began when he bravely battled cancer at just 4 years old, and he has continued to inspire us ever since.

At Duel It 2026, Foster and Kaidence absolutely stole the show as our incredible emcees. In true Foster fashion, he even donated the sports jacket off his back, helping raise an unbelievable $10,000 for Ride of Courage coming up next weekend! 💛

Now it’s our turn to lift him up.

Please join us in sending Foster your healing wishes, words of encouragement, and prayers for a smooth recovery. We know his strength and determination will shine through once again, and we can’t wait to see him back on his feet - pun intended.

Get well soon, Foster! Your Duel It family is cheering you on every step of the way. 💙💪🦴
