🦁 Markham Elite Lions Club at the Joint Zone Meeting

The District Governor’s Zone Advisory Meeting for Zone 18E and Zone 18W was held on October 5, 2026, hosted by the Stouffville Lions Club at Latcham Hall in Whitchurch-Stouffville.

Markham Elite Lions Club was represented by our Board Members:

• Lion Abhishek Jain – 2nd Vice President
• Lion Veena Rajpal – Treasurer

During the meeting, Markham Elite Lions Club proudly presented a cheque of $2,000 to Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) in support of its humanitarian work and community service initiatives around the world.

We are proud to continue serving our community and supporting the Lions’ mission of making a difference, one act of service at a time.

🌸 Empowering Girls. Creating Opportunities. Changing Lives. 🌸

Members of the Markham Elite Lions Club were honoured to attend the PPES Gala, an inspiring evening dedicated to supporting the education and empowerment of girls.

The Pardada Pardadi Educational Society (PPES) is committed to transforming the lives of girls through education, skills development and opportunities for a brighter future. By supporting a girl’s education, we help open doors to knowledge, confidence, independence and a better future.

We are especially proud that, through the generosity of some of our Markham Elite Lions Club members, a total of 25 girls were sponsored. Their commitment to supporting these young girls is a wonderful example of the spirit of service and the meaningful difference that individual members can make.

It was inspiring to see so many people come together with a shared belief that education can change lives.

At Markham Elite Lions Club, we believe that service is not only about what we do together as a club, but also about the individual difference each member can make.

Congratulations to PPES for its continued work in empowering girls and creating opportunities for them to dream, learn and succeed.

Today, the Markham Elite Lions Club was honoured to attend a special appreciation event hosted by the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation, recognizing our club’s commitment to supporting the Markham Stouffville Hospital.

Through our three Annual Fundraising Galas from 2024 to 2026, Markham Elite Lions Club proudly donated a total of $100,000 toward the hospital’s Child Birthing Room — helping support a welcoming and compassionate environment for families during one of life’s most meaningful moments.

We were grateful to be joined by:
• Suzette Strong, CEO, Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation who opened the event with words of appreciation.
• Catherine Ortiz, Senior Coordinator, Corporate Partnerships & Events, who kindly invited us to this special gathering
• Allan Bell, Vice President, Community Relations & Corporate Partnerships, who has supported and attended our Gala dinners for three consecutive years
• Dr. Gita Singh, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, who shared her appreciation for our contribution and its impact on families

The event was held at Health Services Building – Auditorium 4, followed by wonderful refreshments and a light early dinner.

We sincerely thank the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation and everyone who helped make this partnership possible. Most importantly, we thank our members, donors, sponsors, volunteers, and Gala supporters whose generosity made this $100,000 contribution possible.

Lions, family, and friends gathered under the beautiful summer skies for our annual club picnic, and it was an absolute blast! From the delicious food spreads to some seriously competitive rounds of co****le and lawn games, the energy was incredible all day long.
