The next Town Hall meeting is this Tuesday, February 20th, at 7 pm at the Kinplex in . This is an opportunity to provide ideas and feedback to your Council members.

Also, at 5:30 pm, before the above meeting, is the Draft Water & Wastewater Capacity Allocation Policy forum.

Come out and have your say! Let Municipality staff and Council know that the community wants them to keep our ice surfaces and facilities out of their budget cuts!

Join us Thursday, February 15th for a Budget Town Hall. The meeting will be hybrid meaning you can attend in person at the Municipal Office or online.

This is an opportunity for you to provide comments to Council on the 2024 Draft Budget. The meeting will also be streamed live on YouTube.

A letter and petition was presented to Grey Highlands Council this week with over 1400 signatures. Our concerned community sent over 100 emails!  Thank you!  We have their attention but there is still lots to do.  There are members of the community that do not know our ice surface is in danger of being closed. Talk to your friends and neighbours.If you have an idea that would increase revenue for the Community Centre send it to our Council Members! Let’s continue to spread the word and Save The Ice!

Recommendation to close the Markdale Ice Surface is currently in front of Grey Highlands Council, as one of several budget cutting measures. The Markdale ice surface at King Edward Park has been an integral part of our community since its opening in 1975. We are fortunate to have an ice surface in Markdale with wonderful programming and a supportive community. As part of the Grey Highlands Master Recreation Study, a building assessment was conducted and published in June 2023. That assessment indicated that Markdale is in GOOD CONDITION, meaning the arena requires little to no renovation at this time. Markdale’s arena has exceptional infrastructure, with newly renovated large change rooms, warm areas accessible to spectators and excellent hosting capabilities for the numerous hockey teams and pickup leagues the arena currently hosts.
