Two of our amazing Makwa locals took on an incredible challenge with the University of Saskatchewan Agros’ 2026 Bedpush! Julie-Anne Warner, Zoe Schafer, and the entire Agros team pushed a hospital bed all the way from Regina to Saskatoon — talk about dedication and heart!
Every dollar they raised is going straight to Telemiracle, supporting an amazing cause.

We can't even begin to explain how much this grant will help our group and our community's curling rink. Anyone who has previously served on Makwa's Recreation Board or our old Makwa Curling Club Board will understand (and be cheering for us!) when we say that we are very grateful and thankful. You all know how hard we work with limited budgets to contribute to enriching all of our lives. Feel free to comment on this post if you were ever a board member so we can thank you too for your work!

Our Ice Plant bill this season was 6X larger than our normal start up costs. This will go mainly towards paying for our ice plant conversion costs and to our shut down costs. Because of our location we do pay a lot in mileage each time they come to service our plant.

We had a hugely successful curling season with 80 or so curlers each week in our leagues plus school league curlers and 54 or so curlers on weekends in our bonsiels.

We are very grateful to our community, our volunteers, our curlers and to Innovation Federal Credit Union for all of the help and support. We will be shutting down the ice plant soon and will see you all again next season!!
