South Shore Waldorf School South Shore Waldorf School offers a pre-kindergarten through to grade 9 Waldorf curriculum for our students. We are located in Blockhouse, Nova Scotia.

Our Story:
In 1996 the South Shore Waldorf School & Kindergarten first opened its doors on an organic family farm in Conquerall Mills, NS. Five years later, the school and kindergarten moved to a century old school house in Blockhouse, NS, carefully and lovingly renovated by the families and friends of the School. The School was founded by a handful of families looking for 'something more' for the

ir children. The Waldorf curriculum promotes well-rounded development in children by exposing them to a wide variety of subjects using an interdisciplinary approach that complements the students natural abilities. Waldorf education allows for a meaningful learning process by engaging the whole child. The children develop their thinking and feeling, and a sense of purpose. Our Mission:
In everything we do, we nurture the healthy, holistic development of each individual child. We create an education grounded in nurturing, uplifting, and healing. As teachers, we personally guide our students’ interest in and knowledge of the world. Entrusted with this task, we freely commit in gratitude. Our Vision:
The South Shore Waldorf School Association is a resource for Waldorf education in Atlantic Canada. We are a learning community devoted to peacefully educating children within a non-competitive, arts enriched, academically rigorous curriculum.

In this workshop we will explore, delicately, what we mean by 'care of the soul', as it pertains to an adult who cares for children, and to the young child him/herself. Gathering inspiration from words and colour.
Holding these guiding words of Rudolf Steiner, for Waldorf education: "Receive the child in reverence; Educate in love; Let the child go forth in freedom."

The Waldorf East Conference offers a variety of workshops covering educational theory and philosophy, through to practical skills learning such as clock building and natural rope making, reflecting the Waldorf strategy of integration of creative and practical skills into the learning curriculum.

GOAT MILK SOAP MAKING

During this class you will learn how to make various types of soap, about the process, ingredients and tools needed. You will go home with recipes, resources and a bar of personalized, handmade soap.

This will not be a scent-free class, however, I use only essential oils, no perfumes or fragrance oils.
Please note this is a demonstration class. Attendees will observe the soap-making process. Everyone will get to add their choice of scent and colourant to personalize a bar of soap to take home.

Melonie Swinamer is a local South Shore maker who specializes in all-natural personal care and household products, in small batches using essential oils and natural products - no melt & pour, perfumes or dyes.

Wahsonti:io (Deneen Hill) is the 2026 Waldorf East Keynote Speaker. She will discuss Haudenosaunee language revitalization and the integration of Waldorf education at the Everlasting Tree School located in Six Nations of the Grand River Territory.
