The explorers are off on their first canoe trip of the season - Rain or shine! They have worked together has a group to plan, pack, and gear up for their paddle down Little Blackstone River and camp out at Little Blackstone Lake!

Our campers have been working incredibly hard this season during their work schedules to ensure they have enough wood to carry them through the end of winter. What a team they make!

We were also blessed to welcome a visitor from America who generously volunteered his weekend to sharpen our bucksaws, and it has made a world of a difference!

Cozy mornings at the Explorer Campsite 🌲❄️

Mornings at Explorer Campsite look a little different with each season. In the winter, our counsellors rise early to light the tent stoves about half an hour before wake-up, ensuring the insulated tents are warm and toasty for the boys.
Wake-up call comes at 6:15 a.m. Once everyone is up and dressed, the boys make their beds, sweep their tents, pack their shower bags, and gather outside at their “ready logs” for a morning devotional and discussion about the day’s plans.
From there, campsite chores are assigned — shovelling snow, tidying tents, and preparing wood for the evening fire — before everyone heads off to the Chuckwagon for breakfast!

Hello 2026! We wrapped up another incredible year here at CLDC… we celebrated the New year by enjoying some time together skating, playing & watching hockey, and enjoying some snacks & games together in Chuckwagon. The night ended with a big bonfire & fireworks!

It was a night to remember!
