Read more about AdvantAge Ontario’s plan to reimagine aging: https://www.advantageontario.ca Increasing awareness of the need for a housing program for the elderly among the constituencies resulted in the formation of a committee in 1953 representing United Mennonite congregations in the Niagara Region, as well as Waterloo and Toronto. Under the leadership of Ontario Women in Mission, the committe

e registered the United Mennonite Home for the Aged under the Charitable Homes Act. On August 21, 1955, the newly constructed United Mennonite Home for the Aged was dedicated. The Board of Directors that oversees the operation of the Home as well as Orchard View Apartment, is composed of representatives of the sponsoring churches. It is the goal of the board and staff to provide comfortable and well-maintained living accommodations and provide stimulating, complementary recreational programs with an emphasis on the spiritual, physical and social needs for all residents.

We are proud to support the Alzheimer Society Niagara Region and Alzheimer Society Niagara Foundation through their Walk for Memories campaign!

Last week, our community of staff, volunteers, and tenants came together across the campus—from Long-Term Care to Independent Living—to support this meaningful cause. We were fortunate to enjoy beautiful weather and are thrilled to have reached our fundraising goal.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and showed their support. We are honoured to contribute to an organization that has made such a tremendous impact on individuals and families throughout our community.

Today, we celebrate and honour the incredible nurses who are the heart of United Mennonite Home. Your compassion, dedication, strength, and kindness make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents and their families each and every day. Thank you for the comfort you provide, the care you give, and the relationships you build.

We also want to recognize the residents within our Home who once served as nurses themselves. Your years of service, commitment, and care helped shape the nursing profession and touched countless lives. Your legacy continues to inspire us every day.

A special thank you as well to Beth from the Lincoln Museum and Cultural Centre for providing a wonderful historical medical presentation in honour of Nursing Week. Your presentation helped us reflect on the rich history and evolution of nursing and healthcare through the years.

Happy Nursing Week to all nurses — past and present. Your care leaves a lasting impact that is never forgotten. 💙

We’ve been incredibly grateful to partner with the Business & Commercialization Innovation Centre at Niagara College over the past several months.

As part of this collaboration, they sat down with our CEO, Walter Squazzin, for a thoughtful conversation reflecting on the history of United Mennonite Home, including the recent addition of the brand new Twenty Valley Terrace and the direction we’re heading next.

We’re proud of where we’ve come from - a legacy of care, community, and a continued commitment to evolving alongside the needs of those we serve.
