This post is going to look a little different than my usual ones. Normally, I try and focus on a clear point I want to raise awareness about. But today, I have a different goal. My son is thirteen years old and goes to a normal, public school. He has a lot of friends, gets along well with others. Bu...

Grief Needs a Witness — why words matter and why listening can be enough.

Remember that grief is a social experience; it changes shape when someone witnesses it. Read the full piece by Lean on Me's Founder, Jes, and learn how presence and listening support healing. https://wix.to/JHlC0N9

Why sharing the story matters — and why listening is enoughOne of the most powerful things a grieving person can do is speak their story out loud.We emphasize the need for a human witness in grief work because at its core, grief is a social experience and thus, must be addressed within a social co...

More and more individuals are reaching out to us for assistance with their grief journey. Your contributions allow us to provide access to grief care for those who are brave enough to say, "I need help."

Today, we ask for your continued support as we begin preparations for our upcoming online Silent Auction.

We encourage businesses, organizations, and individuals to get involved through donating goods or services for the auction.

Remember, 100% of donations from this fundraiser will go toward subsidizing grief care for our most vulnerable.

Today, I sat down with a like-minded individual—one of those conversations that feels grounding and clarifying all at once. We tend to have infinite patience, kindness, and compassion for others when they grieve. Yet, we do not afford ourselves the same courtesy. Explore how self-kindness can aid healing. Read more: https://wix.to/PqdIWjb

Grief has a way of turning compassion outward while leaving little behind for ourselves. We worry about how others are coping. We show up. We hold space. It’s a big deal that you’re grieving and it’s supposedly “the most wonderful time of the year”. Loss makes the tasks of daily life feel like big lifts and this season tends to come with its own set of additional activities, some or many of which you may not have the capacity for. Remember that there is no “right” or “wrong” in how you choose to acknowledge (or not acknowledge) this tender season. Take it day by day and do what you can to take care of you.

If you’re grieving this holiday season, check out Option B and our holiday resource page at optionb.org/holidays.

Today is a big day. We're publishing our first grief care booklets to serve as resources for Albertans. Our first booklet focuses on seniors and provides information and tips for both seniors experiencing grief and those working with seniors.

Reach out if you've got any questions. And, of course, 100% of proceeds are reinvested into changing Alberta's grief care landscape through our continued efforts to normalize grief, improve resource accessibility, and remove financial barriers to care.
