Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) The Langley Animal Protection Society is committed to saving lives and serving communities, providing care to thousands of animals in need each year.

LAPS was established in 2003 by a dedicated group of volunteers. These volunteers were eager to see a positive change in the way stray, lost and unwanted animals were sheltered and cared for in Langley. In order to uphold these founding member's values, we continue to focus on providing excellent service to our community and overcoming the challenges facing animals in Langley. Based at the Patti D

ale Animal Shelter in Aldergrove, our staff and volunteers use a progressive and humane approach to care for thousands of dogs, cats and farm animals each year. All animals that are cared for by LAPS benefit from environmental enrichment, frequent exercise, nutritious food and top quality medical care. Our staff and volunteers ensure that each animal has the best chance at a happy and healthy life.

Who doesn’t love a good sneak peek? 👀 Our Paws on the Green silent auction is coming together nicely! 🐾

We’ve got amazing items like pressure washers, BBQs, and sports tickets, and this year we’ve added an online silent auction component. 💻 That means even if you can’t attend the event, you can still bid from home!

The silent auction will run from Tuesday, June 9 at 9:00 a.m. until Thursday, June 11 at 8:30 p.m. If you win an item, you can pick it up at the shelter. 🏡

Did you know LAPS has a SniffSpot? 🐾

It’s managed by our amazing team. This initiative has been a huge success, not just for supporting the animals in the shelter through some revenue generation, but for supporting the human-animal bond and improving animal welfare in our community ❤️

SniffSpot is also helping bring more people through our doors. That means more connections, more awareness about what we do, more adoptions, and yes… maybe even a little retail therapy at our small store. We’re currently sitting at a 4.7 ⭐ rating with over 450 visits, which we are proud of!

So, what is SniffSpot?

SniffSpot offers safe, private spaces for dogs to play and exercise. Unlike public dog parks, only one booking is allowed at a time, creating a calm and controlled environment. As hosts, we manage availability, and every dog guardian must register and confirm their dog’s vaccinations. Spaces can range from backyards to open fields, giving dogs a secure place to explore and have fun.
