Beginning tomorrow, (May 19, 2026) the access gate to the Banon Creek Forest Service Road at the end of South Watts Road will be closed Monday to Friday. It will be open on weekends and statutory holidays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

June 1st Deadline to “Opt Out” of Property Tax Deferral Program

We would like to remind people currently using the Property Tax Deferral Program that they must “OPT OUT’ by JUNE 1, 2026 if they do not wish to continue under the new, higher interest rates.

Currently the interest rate to defer property taxes for eligible home homeowners in Prime minus 2% simple interest. The new rate will be Prime PLUS 2 %, compounded monthly, which is nearly current market rates for an equivalent many secured loan.

While the automatic renewal process is not new, the recent changes to interest rate calculations make this a much more significant financial consideration.
