Our condolences go out to the client and all affected by the loss of Jemma.

We are deeply saddened to share that yesterday afternoon we were notified of an incident involving a Dog Guide team who were struck by a vehicle. Tragically, the Dog Guide, Jemma, passed away. Her partner is currently in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Jemma, a Canine Vision Dog Guide, was a gentle black Lab who made an incredible impact in her lifetime. Jemma’s dedication to her job and devotion will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with her handler and their family during this incredibly difficult time. We invite our Dog Guide community to take a moment to remember Jemma and honour her extraordinary life.

Along with Kitchener Waterloo Community Spirit Lions Club, Lions Club of Kitchener (Ontario, Canada), Cambridge Highland Lions Club our donations of small toiletries and warm clothing items to the The Working Centre will help those individuals experiencing homelessness in the region.

In collaboration with the City of Kitchener, it has taken our members and city staff many hours over many days to get Christmas Fantasy in Victoria Park ready for the holiday season. Come down and enjoy an evening walk or drive through the park this holiday and enjoy the lights. A 30 year tradition.

The day honors the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

The orange shirt symbolizes the loss of culture, freedom, and self-esteem that many Indigenous children experienced. This day reminds us that “Every Child Matters”.
