Government direction to add a Kingston station to design study work was given to Alto yesterday.

Alto recommended a Kingston station to the Minister.

CTA continues to advocate for route alignment along the 401 transportation corridor as much as possible and not through the countryside and not dividing farms or cutting a new route through important ecosystems. The 401 corridor is already Canada’a transportation corridor and if a serious new rail line is going to be built it belongs there.

The report summarizes feedback gathered during the first phase of a comprehensive 100-day public consultation process, as well as through Indigenous consultation activities that were conducted from October 2025 through June 2026 across the Toronto–Québec City Corridor.

In anticipation of an announcement by Minister MacKinnon tomorrow morning in Kingston we offer a message of encouragement and ambition to our community and region.

CTA continues to believe that a dedicated track passenger rail line should be built in the vicinity of the 401 corridor, with least harm to farms and rural communities. We need reliable regional transportation.

We continue to believe that farms and ecosystems should not be divided, and that our region is stronger together.

The 401 corridor is Canada’s most important TRANSPORTATION CORRIDOR. It is an existing dividing line corridor serving over 15 million people, who need reliable safe and timely transportation for people as well as goods.

In an era of nationally important infrastructure projects, and the announcement of energy corridors and transportation corridors, it makes sense to utilize the existing corridor as much as possible.

The 401 corridor is Canada's transportation and economic artery. The Government of Canada needs to build and invest in this critical transportation corridor.

With modern passenger rail being a priority of the Government of Canada, it's important that it is built in a way that aligns with the economy and infrastructure.

It's not too late to change the Alto Train route. But the time to act is now.

We need your help in ensuring that passenger rail is built where it makes the most sense. The 401 corridor, the transportation and economic artery of Canada, makes sense.

At the CTA we advocate for reliable modern passenger rail along the 401 corridor. We are calling on the Government to study the corridor and decide on a least-harm, greatest-good alignment.

Introducing our Executive Director, Alyssa Perisa! 🌟

Alyssa joins the CTA with experience in advocacy, policy drafting, and long-term planning. In her previous role she represented 21,000 constituents at her institution and used her role to meet with MPPS regarding community safety and meeting post-secondary demand.

Now, as the Executive Director, her roles includes building relationships across Eastern Ontario, aligning messaging, drafting letters, and furthering our mission calling on the Government of Canada to invest in modern passenger rail along the 401 corridor.

CTA has hired an Executive Director and is ramping up organized professional efforts to advocate for a 401 corridor route as the corridor with least harm and greatest benefit if new rail is to be built. The 401 corridor is a transportation corridor. Our new ED is coordinating support from all municipalities, institutions and organizations who support our message:
Nation building projects should unite not divide.
