Shout out to Heartland Insurance! Thanks to the crew from Heartland who spent Friday morning helping out at the Food Bank. They happily helped us reorganize, repack food and cleane. Great Job! We love the support we get from the community!

If you've ever thought Feed Nova Scotia was a food bank, you wouldn't be alone!

While we aren't actually a food bank, we do support over 130 food banks, meal programs, and shelters across the province through actions like food distribution and capacity building. These organizations also rely on relationships with local farmers and retailers, volunteers, donors of their own, and more to support food insecure Nova Scotians in their communities.

We have over 80 food banks in the Feed Nova Scotia member network and from January to March of 2026, these food banks supported 35,879 people from 14,721 households.

In the past few years, we've seen an increase in the frequency by which households are accessing support, meaning that people are visiting food banks more often than ever before. It's a worrying trend - but it's not surprising. Wages and income supports are not sufficient in Nova Scotia. Combined with high rent, high utilities, and high cost of food, more and more people have no choice but to turn to food support.

WE ARE OFFERING WEDNESDAY NIGHT PICK UP SERVICE ON A TRIAL BASIS STARTING TOMORROW WEDNESDAY MAY 13TH
To schedule a pick up, phone us at (902) 679-3664 before 11:00 am on Wednesday. Leave a message indicating you are calling about a pickup order. You will receive a call back, confirming your request and your scheduled pick up time. Pick up times will be scheduled between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
(Note: Thursday pick ups will continue to be offered between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm)

A huge thank you to our amazing community partners hosting a diaper drive on behalf of the local Food Banks. The diaper drive will make a meaningful difference for parents working hard to provide for their little ones.

Let's unite in our community and ensure every little one is cared for! I'm thrilled to lead this diaper drive and kindly request your support in spreading the word! All collected diapers will be distributed through the Annapolis Valley Food banks.
