Webequie First Nation Thanksgiving Gospel Jamboree- October 9 to 11, 2026

We are excited to welcome everyone to our Thanksgiving Gospel Jamboree. We will have guest speakers and musicians joining us for a time of worship, fellowship and celebration.

We are also blessed to welcome Bishop Morris Fiddler and Bishop Lydia Mamakwa into our community. If you are interested in baptism or any other church services, please reach out to:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sheila Shewaybick.

Sheila was a kind and gentle soul. Although she was soft-spoken but those who knew her well will remember her wonderful sense of humour and the laughter she shared with those close to her.

Sheila deeply loved her partner and also loved her two brothers dearly and adored her nieces and nephews as well as her grand-niece and treated them as her own.

Sheila was a caring and thoughtful person who always looked out for the people she loved. She would make a point of checking in on her family and relatives whenever they weren’t feeling well. That was simply who Sheila was. She was someone with a gentle heart who cared deeply for her family and loved ones.

Please keep Sheila’s family, her partner, and close relatives in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Today, Chief Lorraine Whitehead, along with her Council and community members, participated in a community walk in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

We walked together to honour residential school Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and stand with their families and communities.

Following after the walk, a special blessing was held on the grounds where Webequie First Nation’s new recreation centre is being built. This new space will support our children, youth, families, and future generations.

A special thank-you to Indigenous Logistics and Better Building Solutions Inc. for providing lunch for the community. Your kindness and support are greatly appreciated.

COMMUNITY NOTICE: PRODUCTION BLAST

Sigfusson Northern Ltd. conducted a production blast at the Webequie Quarry on September 24, 2026, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The quarry is approximately 15 kilometres from the community. The blast was required to produce gravel and other materials for our arena project. Community members may have heard loud noises or felt vibrations from the blasting.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank everyone for their understanding.
