Some wounds don’t come from being unloved — they come from being loved temporarily.
Behind shelter doors are cats who once believed they were home. Cats who trusted hands, slept in warm rooms, and thought they belonged. And beside them are cats who never had any of that at all. Different pasts, same ending — waiting, wondering, hoping someone means it this time.
A cat doesn’t understand holidays, gifts, or convenience. They understand safety. They understand routine. They understand staying.
When we treat a life as something seasonal, disposable, or replaceable, we leave behind confusion that lingers far longer than the celebration ever did. Love isn’t proven in the moment you bring a cat home — it’s proven in the years you choose not to leave them behind.
Cats aren’t lessons. They aren’t surprises. They aren’t something you give and take away.
They are a lifetime promise. And they deserve to be loved like one. 🐾
