Steve (Va7lba) is trying to encourage members to partake in portable hamming. Parks on the air (POTA) is one example on how members can set up in the field very quickly using Portable radios and antennas to make contacts. Our set up included mostly QRP Rigs and simple antenna arrays.

THE 1st BEAR scouts where introduced to the world of Ham Radio contesting. The SSB QSO Party was the contest of choice where you make as many North American contacts in a 12 hour period.

Held at the Ellison ham shack, scouts did an amazing job and were complimented on several occasions for their on air etiquette from other operators.
