Kudos to the Victoria Police Department for educating the public and highlighting the important role of guide and service dogs and the rights of the people who rely on them.

Guide and service dogs support independence, mobility, and inclusion. Awareness and understanding help create more accessible and inclusive communities for everyone. We encourage our followers to watch and share!

For many people who are Blind, Deafblind, or partially sighted, air travel can often mean navigating more than airports and flight schedules. Misconceptions about assistance, unsolicited help, and barriers faced by guide dog users can make travel more challenging than it needs to be.

Through advocacy, AEBC works to address these issues and promote practical solutions that improve accessibility for everyone. Your donation helps make that work possible. We invite you to support this work with a donation. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/3315

When a new medical accommodation form for air travellers, intended to improve accessibility, was released, it seemed like progress. But the form was inaccessible to many Blind, Deafblind, and partially sighted Canadians. AEBC worked directly with the airlines to correct the issue, and within three weeks an accessible online version was available across major Canadian airline websites.

With the support of our members and donors, we can continue this kind of practical advocacy that leads to real change. Please consider making a donation today. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/3315

Join us as we welcome Marie Renaud, NDP MLA for St. Albert, as part of AEBC's National AccessAbility Week programming.

Marie Renaud has been the NDP MLA for St. Albert since 2015, having been re-elected in both 2019 and 2023. Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, Ms. Renaud worked for almost 15 years as the Executive Director of Lo-Se-Ca Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides residential and day supports to adults with developmental disabilities. Previous to this, she spent two years at the Women’s Economic and Business Solutions Society and seven years as an instructor at MacEwan University.

In the spring of 2026, Marie introduced Bill 206-the Accessible Alberta Act. While the UCP government has refused to pass the bill, the Alberta NDP has committed to adopting accessibility legislation when it forms government.
