Thank you to everyone who reached out to help build the greenhouses! We will be on site tomorrow from 9-4 so come on by whenever you can 💛💛
We will be making a healthy lunch and snacks for everyone.

Again, we really appreciate the help, we’re trying our best to not only grow food for the community but also offer a place for people to come and learn!

We Need Your Help!
We’re putting together two greenhouses this weekend and could use some volunteers. We’re starting to grow our own food for eating, preserving, and teaching—and we need some extra hands to get things built.

What to bring: Work gloves if you have them, and any tools you think might help. We have some power tools aswellll!

We are still promoting our half and half fundraiser, someone will be there all day tomorrow to take your information !
All donations will go towards buying new materials to repair our chicken coops so our chickens have a safe and healthy home this year 💛💛💛

Starting today! We are currently trying to raise $6,428.00 ( to be exact) to purchase new flooring and repair our chicken coops before our chicken arrive may 2

We are excited to announce our Half & Half Fundraiser, launching this Saturday, April 5. This is a great opportunity to support our project while also having a chance to win.

How It Works:
->Tickets are $5 each or 3/$10
->The total amount raised will be split 50% to the winner and 50% to our initiative.

The draw will take place on April 21,2025 at noon.

Where the Funds Will Go:
When we started, we never expected to have 100+ people every week walking through our space. The wear and tear on our floors have started to accumulate, and we need to purchase materials for new flooring. Additionally, we need to repair our chicken coops to ensure they remain healthy and safe for the animals.

We are accepting e-transfers for ticket purchases. Please include your name and contact information in the message when sending your e-transfer.

Despite recent funding cuts, we are committed to continuing the important work of providing fresh food, skill-building opportunities, and a safe, welcoming space for all. Our greenhouses and chicken coop projects are ready to launch, but we need your help to bring them to life and maintain them for the community.

We want to share some important news with everyone

While we’re excited about the positive growth at the Mohawk Community Cultural Homestead—greenhouses, chickens, and expanded programs arriving this April—we just received the unfortunate new that are facing a significant funding cut.

💡 What This Means:
->The Free Food Program is still running, but the funding for overall property utilities, maintenance salaries, materials, and upkeep is no longer covered.
->Without our maintenance staff, we can’t maintain the property, take care of our chickens, take care of the greenhouses, manage repairs, or support workshops and activities as planned.

🙌 How You Can Help:

-> If you know of any grants or funding sources, please send them our way.
-> Support our upcoming fundraisers to help us purchase new flooring and repair our chicken coop, ensuring the safety of everyone who visits and the health of our flock.

We’re a community-driven space dedicated to traditional skills, food sovereignty, and cultural education. 🛖

What We Do:
🌾 Traditional Skills: Workshops on hunting, fishing, food preservation, and cooking.
🛠️ Youth & Community Support: We offer outdoor experiences, talking circles, and skill-building for youth and Indigenous groups.
🐔 Sustainable Food Production: With two new greenhouses and a chicken coop on the way, we’ll soon provide fresh eggs and produce!
