IIKELC attended the Mass Registration in Iqaluit and talked to community members about Embrace Life Week!

All our events will take place between September 10th and September 17th. The Polar Dip will be the final big event! Here are some common questions about the Polar Dip that were asked:

What is a Polar Dip?
A Polar Dip is an outdoor activity where you willingly jump into extremely cold water. You can jump as an individual or with a team.

What would I use to warm up after the Polar Dip?
The event will have tents with a heater inside, blankets available, and a hot beverage to keep warm. There will also be a small bonfire nearby.

Why is Embrace Life Council running a Polar Dip event?
The Embrace Life Polar Dip is an event dedicated to promoting healing, resilience, and su***de prevention in Nunavut. This pilot event aims to bring community members together to inspire hope through the courageous acts of facing discomfort and showing support. We are collaborating with Nunavut RCMP and will have support of local agencies.

How can I show support in other ways?
Anyone is welcome to show moral support at the event without jumping in the water. We also have other events during Embrace Life Week you can attend to show support.

The Embrace Life Polar Dip will be at Apex Beach, on Thursday September 17th from 11am-2pm.
