My little side kick Rocket came with me to my fav place…
Huge thank you to Pet Valu Stroud for their constant support, generosity, and for always checking in and showing up for us.

From donations to this incredibly thoughtful gift and card, you remind us what true community looks like. Rocket loved her visit, and we’re so grateful for this partnership and everything you continue to do for Tails from the Crate, Inc. 🐾

Rocket is back with us, and while returns are never easy, this girl is already showing us just how much potential she has.

Since Sunday, I’ve been spending time getting to know her, and I can confidently say, Rocket is incredibly smart, intuitive, and truly an amazing dog. The concerns shared were resource guarding and some barrier frustration, and while we take that seriously, she has not displayed those behaviors with me in the same way. That said, we will always advocate for safe management and set her up for success moving forward.

Rocket is 6 months old, fully vetted, and will be spayed prior to adoption. She is crate trained, house trained, quiet in the home, excellent in the car, and knows how to settle and entertain herself with her toys. She enjoys her walks, loves being outside, and is more of a medium energy girl than high.

She has been around other dogs and can do well, but has shown some sensitivity around food, so proper structure and experience are key. For that reason, we are looking for an experienced home, ideally with no other pets or small children, where boundaries are understood and respected.

With the right person, someone confident, patient, and knowledgeable—Rocket is going to absolutely thrive. We are already seeing progress, and she deserves a home that will continue to guide her and bring out the very best in her.

If you think you could be the right match for Rocket, please reach out.

Four little lives, one big second chance.

These four puppies made it safely from the reserve and are beginning their next chapter. One is already settling into their foster-to-adopt home, and the other three will be safely placed tomorrow.

A huge thank you to Denise at Flights for Hope for organizing a fundraiser that sponsored each pup and gave them their new names (featured in the video 🐾). Because of you, their journey didn’t just begin—it changed.

They’re doing amazing so far, and this is only the beginning… 🐾❤️

I feel so lucky to have friends who support me the way they do. I’ve been quiet lately due to my health and due to my intake freeze. But it’s time to start up again, with that said, funds are low. For obvious reasons. Inorder for me to continue and to help these pups, I need to fundraise. Flights For Hope has stepped up as always, and I’m grateful. Let’s get these boys sponsored and into their forever homes. Pup #1 has been sponsored. Thank you 🐾❤️

We’re getting ready to welcome new dogs into our care 🤍

With every intake comes responsibility, medical care, supplies, and safe placements and as a registered non-profit, Tails from the Crate, Inc. relies entirely on donations and fundraising to make that possible.
We have a few fundraisers currently in place and coming soon, and any support truly helps us continue saying yes to dogs who need us most.
Right now, we also have four 8-week-old puppies looking for foster or foster-to-adopt homes. All males.
They are Shepherd/Dane/Bully mixes from a northern Ontario community who were surrendered and are ready for a fresh start.
If you’ve been considering fostering, this is your sign.
If you’re not in a position to foster, sharing or supporting our fundraisers makes a real impact.
Together, we can keep moving forward…and keep saving lives.

If you’re interested in fostering or would like more information, please send us a message 🤍

This is one of the harder posts to write. 💔

Rocket (formerly Aya), who came into our care back in November, is being returned through no fault of her own.
She is fully vetted and will be spayed prior to adoption.
We are committed, as always, to finding her the home she deserves—one that understands her and sets her up for success.

Meet Rocket 🚀 — and yes, she lives up to her name.
Rocket is a 6.5-month-old German Shepherd/Husky mix from Northern Manitoba with movie-star looks and a brain to match. She doesn’t just learn new skills — she masters them. Sit, down, look, touch, recall… she picks things up so fast, you will be amazed (and it’s incredibly rewarding if you enjoy training).
She’s about 35 lbs right now, playful, cuddly, and full of personality. She loves to be around her people, play, learn new things, and then curl up for snuggles after a busy day of being a very smart girl.
Rocket has completed beginner puppy school, is fully up-to-date on her shots, and is ready for her next adventure with an experienced dog owner who enjoys working with intelligent, high-drive dogs. She would do best in a home without small children and with people who understand shepherd/husky brains — she needs mental stimulation, structure, and continued training to thrive.
Rocket does have some barrier frustration around her crate and can be protective of high-value treats or toys, along with some food aggression. She should be fed separately from other dogs and will need continued training and management in this area. We believe this stems from anxiety and her past. She will do best with patient owners who are willing to continue working with her — she is incredibly smart and responds very well to training, which makes this a more manageable situation in the right home.
The best way to describe Rocket is this: she’s not a beginner dog — but for the right person, she’s a really special dog. The kind of dog who will learn anything you want to teach her, go on adventures with you, make you laugh daily, and then sleep at your feet.

If you feel you could be the right fit for Rocket, please message us for more information and an application.

Everest.

The bottom photo was the day I said yes.
His body was raw. His fur nearly gone. His skin thick, cracked, and infected. Manitoba winter beneath his fragile paws. People questioned it. Some said I was crazy. Some said he wouldn’t make it. Some said it was too much.

But all I saw were eyes that hadn’t given up.

Treatment had started in Manitoba, but when I went there and brought him back, I continued it. I brought him home still mangy, still fragile, still very much not out of the woods.
And then… he healed.

The top photo?
That’s Everest now.
Now Wylie.
Healthy. Stunning. Thick, luxurious coat. Bright eyes. A dog who runs and plays and sleeps safely in a warm home. A dog who adores his new sister, Peaches. A dog who is deeply loved.

This week has been one of the heaviest weeks of my rescue life.
Losing Chloe shattered us. Watching Jack Richard fight through a confirmed distemper diagnosis has been terrifying. The stress. The unknowns. The grief that doesn’t move quickly. My family is devastated. I cry every single day. Some days I question everything.

But then I received a beautiful message about Wylie.
And I was reminded. This is why.

For every heartbreaking goodbye, there is a life rewritten.
For every sleepless night, there is a dog sleeping safely somewhere because we didn’t quit.
For every critic or hater, there are dozens of you who show up with love, kindness, and support.

Wylie’s story is one of the most impactful I’ve ever been a part of. Not just visually , though the transformation is unbelievable, but emotionally. It proves that the worst beginnings do not dictate the ending.

I am so grateful for the success stories.
I am so grateful for the supporters who hold us up when we are breaking.
I am so grateful that even in the heaviest weeks, we are reminded that good still comes from this work.

Wylie…You made it, sweet boy.

And you reminded me why we keep going. 🤍🐾

It’s been a really rough, heavy, heartbreaking week for me and the rescue.
Last week, Jack Richard began to show symptoms of distemper after being exposed during transport. Sadly, six dogs from that same transport — with other rescues — have already been lost.
Jack tested positive for Lyme disease… and now distemper as well.
Right now, he is stable. Not improving — but stable. And we are holding onto that.
But in the middle of fighting for him, something else happened.

Chloe.

Although she was not on that transport, she came into contact, and Chloe contracted distemper.
Early Sunday morning she began showing symptoms. By the evening, she suffered a seizure. Within 30 minutes she was at emergency, but she declined so quickly. She became incoherent. The disease progressed faster than we could even process what was happening.
And we had to make the most devastating decision.
Chloe was just a baby. She had only known four weeks of love, warmth, a full belly, safety, and stability. She didn’t deserve this. None of them do. It isn’t fair.

Distemper is brutal. It is preventable. Core vaccines matter. They save lives.
We need to advocate harder. We need to push education. We need to support northern communities so this doesn’t keep happening.
Financially, this has been another huge hit for us. Emotionally, it’s shattered us. Jack is still fighting. He is not out of the clear. And we are grieving Chloe.

For now, we are on an intake hold until further notice. That is why I’ve been quiet. And I may continue to be quiet for a little while.

I am heartbroken.
For Chloe.
For Jack.
For all of them.

Please hug your dogs a little tighter today. And please — vaccinate.
