Buchanan Memorial Community Health Centre is a short-term care facility located in Neil's Harbour. It serves the communities of Neil's Harbor, Dingwall, Bay St Lawrence, Meat Cove, Ingonish and surrounding areas.
Position Details:

Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Site: Buchanan Memorial Hospital
Hours: Rotational Shifts - 0700-1900/1900-0700
Payrate: $ 20.50

Key Responsibilities:

Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards
Prerequisites:

Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
Covid Vaccine two doses
Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
English (oral and written) fluency is a must
Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability

Position Overview
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Gas Fitter II will play a critical role in ensuring the safe
and efficient installation, maintenance, and servicing of propane systems. This individual will be
key in upholding the company’s standards for safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
● Installation and Maintenance: Perform installations, maintenance, and repairs for
propane tanks, appliances, and vaporizers in both residential and commercial settings.
● Propane Hook-Ups: Complete safe and accurate propane hook-ups for a variety of
systems.
● Administrative Tasks: Manage administrative duties including ordering parts,
completing work orders, invoicing, and assisting with shop-related activities.
● Other Duties: Support other operational and service tasks as required to meet team and customer needs. Qualifications and Skills ● Certification: Gasfitter II certification required. A liquid propane endorsement is an asset, or a willingness to attain certification. ● Equipment Knowledge: Crane ticket and experience operating a boom truck are assets. ● Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of CSA B149 Gas Codes and their application. ● Licensing: Minimum Class 5 driver’s license required. ● Mechanical Aptitude: Strong technical and mechanical skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving. ● Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. ● Willingness to Learn: Openness to ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.
