We’re so excited to share some incredible news that’s going to make a huge difference for women’s brain health across Canada!

Brain Canada and the Women's Brain Health Initiative (WBHI) have teamed up to launch the Accelerator Grants: Migraine Research program. It’s a targeted effort to close the gender gap for a condition that affects women at up to three times the rate of men, often during our most productive years in their careers and at home. 🧠

The program supports high-impact studies into the causes and symptoms of migraines, specifically focusing on why they hit women hardest. The goal is to turn this research into better clinical care and more personalized treatments for everyone.

This kind of investment in the future of women’s health innovation is exactly the kind of progress we love, and we can’t wait to see the breakthroughs this research will bring to light!

Yesterday, we were at MaRS Discovery District for the Women's Health Investment Summit hosted with Cross-Border Impact Ventures ☕

It was incredible to be in a room full of people pushing women's health forward and having the conversations that matter.

At the event, we heard from so many incredible leaders throughout the day:

➡️ We caught a fireside chat on Why Women's Health Deserves Serious Investment with Alyson J McGregor from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville and John Martin from Cardiosense
➡️ Salim Kandedi from Corvita Biomedical took the stage for The Birth of Tomorrow panel
➡️ We also got to see our founder, Rachel Bartholomew, on stage for the Innovations in Gynecological Health panel! This session was moderated by Dr. Stephanie Ferguson

These are the kinds of conversations that move the needle from awareness to real investment and action in the ecosystem.

At last year's Femtech Forum, Lori Brotto from eSense Health shared exactly what makes the event so critical for the future of women’s health.

For Lori, our annual forum is a space where early, evidence-based ideas find the right path to commercialization. It brings together the key players needed to turn a single conversation into real-world impact that improves the lives of women across Canada.

There’s real momentum in women’s health right now...but some patterns haven’t changed.

A new survey by myStoria shows that while awareness is growing, many experiences across generations are still surprisingly similar.

➡️ Over half of women were told their symptoms were “normal” before learning they weren’t
➡️ 60%+ had to see multiple providers to get answers
➡️ Women in their 20s, 30s, and 50s reported nearly identical journeys

“This is not a story about individual providers failing individual patients,” says Jessica Chalk. “It is a story about a system that was never designed to prepare us for our own bodies.”

There’s a real opportunity here 💡 to rethink how we approach education, diagnosis, and ongoing care and to build a system that better supports women at every stage.
