HRIC's Indigenous Community Justice Department is growing the ways community can be involved in supporting Indigenous people navigating the justice system.
We are currently looking for volunteers for our Community Council and Peer Support Program.

Community Council members bring their knowledge, experience and connection to community into diversion circles, helping participants develop meaningful healing plans rooted in culture, accountability, strengths and positive change.

Our Peer Support Program will connect individuals navigating the justice system with people who understand that change and healing are not always easy or straightforward. Lived experience can bring a kind of understanding that cannot always be taught. Having someone walk alongside you can make a world of difference.

We are looking for First Nations, Métis and Inuit community members, 18+, who are walking their own path of healing and wellness and feel ready to support others with respect, compassion and without judgement.

You are someone who can listen, encourage, share, connect and walk alongside others.
