More than fashion — this is community. 🧡

Last weekend, Help Heal Humanity teamed up with for an event that was so much more than a runway — it was community, in every sense of the word. Students from our HHH Club showed up to represent, share what their fundraising and outreach work has meant for them and remind everyone in the room why we do this.

Live music, local designers, and a room full of people choosing to show up for something bigger than themselves. That's the kind of night that fuels the work ahead.

At an age when she should have been holding crayons and storybooks, she was in the streets, selling whatever she could find to help her family survive. In a neighborhood where gang activity was the easiest trap to fall into, her future felt uncertain, fragile, and heavy.

Then, Help Heal Humanity entered her story.

It wasn't just about providing a classroom; it was about building a sanctuary. It was about showing her that her life, her dreams, and her voice mattered.

Nine years later, she is still here. She learned to read. She learned to write. She rewrote a story that the streets tried to dictate for her. Today, she carries a notebook and her future belongs to her.

Today, we remember the millions of African men, women, and children whose lives were stolen and forever changed by the transatlantic slave trade.

August 23 holds particular significance for Haiti. On the night of August 22–23, 1791, enslaved people in Saint-Domingue rose against a system built on their exploitation, helping ignite the Haitian Revolution and a historic fight for freedom.

The International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition is a moment to honour those who suffered and recognize the lasting impact of slavery and colonialism.

Through Help Heal Humanity’s Student Sponsorship Program, $50 CAD a month or $600 CAD a year helps provide a child in Haiti with access to education, including school fees, textbooks, uniforms, and essential school supplies.

Today, on World Humanitarian Day, we honour the people who dedicate their time and courage to helping others.

August 19 also carries a powerful history. The day commemorates the humanitarian workers who lost their lives in the 2003 bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad, and reminds us of the risks humanitarian workers continue to face around the world.

At Help Heal Humanity, we are especially grateful for our volunteers and supporters who continue to show up for our communities. Every act of service, big or small, has the power to create meaningful change.

Today, we remember those we have lost, celebrate those who continue to serve, and stand with communities affected by crises around the world. 🌎❤️
