No expectation to donate, feel free to just follow along ♡
For the second year in a row, I've decided to join the '100km Move Challenge' with the Canadian Cancer Society, this year 'in June'. The goal is to cover 100km on foot over the month, running or walking... I'm sure skipping would count too. I'm aiming to raise $100 ($1 per km) in support. Whether you're able to chip in or simply follow along with my journey, your support is appreciated.
This time around is slightly different than last because I am preparing to bring life into this world. Two things pull me to participate more than before.
1. I need to make sure I'm moving for baby bean and myself; but mostly,
2. I can't help but think of all the wonderful people who bean will get to hear about, who I wish bean could meet, and who I am doing this for.
My nana (Linda Pratt), my poppie (Edward Pratt), Jacquie (Best) Heis (my childhood Irish dance teacher), Mme (Connie) St Louis (my high school modern dance teacher), Lorne Biesel (John’s grandpa), Pam Kennedy (a mum & friend in our dance community), my grandma Mary, and too many more who I haven’t mentioned. All have had a lasting impact on my life and help guide my internal compass, pulling me back to what matters most. They live on in our spirit and memories.
In addition to honouring those who have left an indelible mark on my life, I want to recognize the resilience and strength of those who have battled and survived cancer, including Mama B (Marianna Burda), and others among my family and friends. Your strength is a source of hope.
I also am doing this in recognition of the caregivers who provide unwavering support to their loved ones facing cancer, like my mum (Pam Dupuis), Bridget Patterson (my soulmate), Nancy Biesel (John’s grandma), Susan Raymond (John’s mum), and Cathy Butcher (John’s aunt). Their tireless efforts do not go unnoticed, and I am ever inspired by their commitment, unconditional love, and compassion.
I'll be tracking my distance/time and sharing my progress in a couple places to hold myself accountable (& so you can see how I'm progressing). It’s just over 3km a day!
Thank you for choosing to be a part of this with me, in whatever capacity works for you.
