Type: Out-and-Back with Looped side Trails
Time Required: 1.5–3 hours
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Trail Description

The Nine Mile River Trail System offers a peaceful escape into a mixed Acadian forest, featuring a out-and-back spine with a series of connected loops. Well-marked and maintained by local volunteers, this trail is a great choice for hikers of all skill levels, with several access points and optional loops that allow you to adjust your route depending on time and ability.

The trail features gently rolling terrain with boardwalks over wet areas, gravel paths, and forested singletrack. The longest loop combines all sections for a ~9.3km hike, ideal for nature lovers looking to explore the quiet woods of East Hants.

Boardwalks & Bridges: Charming wooden crossings over streams and wetland areas.

Birdwatching: Great spot to spot woodpeckers, warblers, and other forest birds.

Well-Marked Trails: Clear signage and trail maps at intersections.

Getting There

From Highway 102, take Exit 8 and follow Route 214 through Elmsdale toward Nine Mile River. Look for signage near 1143 Enfield Road. Parking is available at the trailhead near the community center.
