Today we celebrate Saint Louise de Marillac, patron saint of social workers, a woman of faith and compassion. Alongside Saint Vincent de Paul, she devoted her life to serving the most vulnerable - the sick, the poor, and those who are isolated.

Her commitment, rooted in a deep relationship with God, continues to inspire all who work for social justice and human dignity today. 💙

Nous célébrons aujourd’hui sainte Louise de Marillac, patronne des travailleurs sociaux, femme de foi et de compassion. Aux côtés de saint Vincent de Paul, elle a consacré sa vie à servir les plus vulnérables - malades, pauvres et personnes isolées.

Son engagement, nourri par une profonde relation à Dieu, continue d’inspirer aujourd’hui tous ceux qui œuvrent pour la justice sociale et la dignité humaine. 💙

Volunteer Treasurer
Society of Saint Vincent de Paul – Halifax Particular Council (HPC)

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul – Halifax Particular Council (HPC) has been serving individuals and families in need across central Nova Scotia since 1868. In the past year alone, HPC provided support to more than 11,000 individuals, with financial assistance exceeding $1.64 million.

We are currently seeking a Treasurer to support our mission through sound financial stewardship and governance. This is an opportunity to apply your professional skills in service of a meaningful cause while contributing to a values-driven, faith-based organization. There may be consideration for some financial re-numeration.

Qualifications:
CPA designation preferred, or equivalent experience in accounting, bookkeeping, business administration, or financial management
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accountability and transparency

Key Responsibilities:
Provide oversight of financial operations, including cheque issuance and deposits
Supervise a contracted bookkeeper responsible for preparing financial statements using QuickBooks
Review and monitor financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance
Participate in strategic and operational discussions as part of the executive team

Time Commitment:
Approximately 15–20 hours per month
Plus, participation in two meetings (4 hrs) per month
This role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute your expertise in support of those most in need in our communities.
