Seniors for Climate - Halifax We’re seniors deeply alarmed by the climate crisis. One in four Canadians — we have outsized political, economic and social power. And we vote!

Our goal is to build a Canada-wide community of seniors to create a liveable future. We have a major role to play and we have motive, commitment and opportunity. Along with our children and grandchildren, we face a climate emergency. We need faster and better climate action. Later Is Too Late! Our Main Messages
We’re in a climate emergency. We need to act Now! We must phase out the use of fossil fuels. Climate change is affecting our health – extreme heat, wildfires, floods, storms, droughts. Action on climate must be intergenerational and intersectional: joining with youth, First Nations, the disadvantaged and equity seeking populations. We’re all in this together. We need to speed up the transition to renewable power and clean energy. We must stop our government, banks and pension plans from aggravating the climate crisis.

"But after the advent of the Holocene and its remarkably stable climate, in only 100 centuries the world population has risen to 8 billion.
"That is what we stand to lose. In fact, if our institutions, news and elected officials continue to feed and water the oil company-conceived mega-falsehood that climate breakdown is something just “our great-grandkids need to worry about,” human civilization as we know it will collapse and billions could die. And we’re not talking about the far distant future. We are talking about collapse within years, not centuries. For real."

Thinking we have time left to address climate change, or that “Net Zero by 2050” will save us, is driving us toward full social collapse in ways that become more obvious with every new broken temperature record.

Guilbeault has resigned as a member of palrliament.

"Steven Guilbeault, who previously served as environment minister under Justin Trudeau, is set to leave Mark Carney’s Liberal caucus altogether, a well-placed source has confirmed to me.
"Guilbeault’s departure, first reported by CTV News, comes amid increased concern from environmental groups and some Liberal MPs alike about Carney’s recent moves that impact the environment and climate change.
"In a set of discussion papers launched two weeks ago, The prime minister proposed several measures that, should they become law, Guilbeault agreed would be going further than what Stephen Harper did during his tenure."
