We love practicum students!

The children are always eager to see us during visits - and students have the freshest of ideas!

Louis & Mireille's crew enjoyed an animal themed sensory bin on the backyard veranda. Can you spot the habitats the kiddos built for their animal friends?

"I found two of the same!"

"Rawr!"

Lots of bug hunting with Palvi's crew this morning.

"Keep digging! I smell worms!"
"I see worm tunnels! They are just here!"
"Can you see any worms?"
"I don't have any worms."

We found rollypollies, millipedes, slugs, spiders, and ants; but the worm treasure was never found.

Beautiful example of nutrition education in action!

Cheri's crew helped set the table and prepare the ingredients for build-your-own sandwich day. Each child had the opportunity to build their sandwich how they would like, talked about why they liked certain ingredients in their food ("I like carrots to make it crunchy!" "The coconut butter is sweet!"), taking inspiration from each other's "creations", with the older children happily helping the younger children with their spreads.

A slow paced lunch with opportunity for conversation, listening to their bodies hunger cues, and teamwork to clear the table when all done.

Meaghan's group (Busy Little Feet) hatched chicken eggs this spring and the children have been learning how to hand feed the chicks.

During our agency visit they demonstrated how to softly pet their backs, and hold greens for them to peck at. 🥬

They were very mindful to wash their hands after handling the chicks!

A wonderfully adorable way to learn compassionate care. 🐣

❄️ Winter Clothing Tips ❄️

It is time to start dressing for winter.

Please remember that outdoor play is part of our daily program all year. Your child needs warm clothes every day to play with their friends.

Winter is not just snow. It can also be rainy or have "slush" (wet snow). Please keep sending rain gear so your child stays dry.

This is a basic list. Please ask your childcare provider if they need anything else.
